"[skip to the end if you want the TL;DR] While on a long recovery from an injury (read: VERY bored), I began thinking about a custom piece I wanted to design. I came up with a concept, researched materials, and eventually sourced and imported some jade and silver to become a bracelet. Once all of it arrived, I took it into Bella Luna, because based on (many, many) repairs I’ve had done there over the years (because I constantly forget to take my jewelry off before going to the barn to ride my horse), I know they do great quality work and that they are very friendly. I walked in, and literally said, “ok, I have about 75% of a bracelet. Let’s see what we can do!” and OMG, the team at Bella Luna absolutely blew me away. From sizing the bracelet appropriately, to finalizing the design, to considering things I had never even thought of (like weight distribution! And what material to string the jade beads on!) the Bella Luna team were incredibly professional. The final product took my breath away when I picked it up, and I think the price for the work done was very very fair. I’m a craft fanatic, whether it’s jewelry for me, or saddles and equipment for my horse, and I can confidently say that the work done on my bracelet is clean, neat, and well-done. The eventual end design is actually a pair of bracelets, so once the materials for the second bracelet arrive, I’ll be bringing them to Bella Luna to complete the pair. 2 tips if you decide to go the route I did: ask questions so you know what’s going on, especially if you’re a jewelry design newbie like me! Communication with your jeweler is very important. And, also, be prepared for a little wait time. Good quality jewelry design and construction isn’t going to get done in 24 hours, so factor that in if you want the piece for an event. This isn’t Amazon, this is a bespoke jeweler. Ok, so, the TL;DR: I came into Bella Luna with a design concept and materials, and the team at the shop finalized the design and built an absolutely gorgeous piece for me. I’m incredibly happy with it and will continue doing business there."
