"Was assigned Dr Ryan as part of my HMO with Blue Shield. Made an appointment as a new patient and new resident of San Diego. His name was on my ID card, When I arrived I spent 20 mins filling out paperwork. WHen asked to provide a copy of my ID card, I showed the front desk a digital copy of the card, front and back with Dr Ryans name and address on it as my PCP. The woman at the counter stated she needed a physical ID card, I said I only received a digital card. She said she would speak to the office manager, who came out and again asked me for my ID card. I showed her the digital download. She said she physically had to have the card or the practice would not get paid for the visit and that she would have to reschedule me. I was assigned this Dr. Clearly had to be in their system, as I was in the Blue Shied system as well. A quick phone call is all that was needed if they felt the digital ID card I showed on my phone was somehow a fake. First impressions matter, and as a diabetic, I cant imagine calling in for requests to refill prescriptions or anything customer service related. My entire family has seen a primary care physician in the past few weeks, and none of them needed to show anything other than the digital cards we had in our phones. Staff is a reflection on the owner. Im sure Dr Ryan is a very decent doctor. I am looking for another."
