"I recently had the most disappointing experience at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation on Friday, October 9, 2020 which shouldn't have surprised me considering the recent reports and developments I've seen with this facility. I had an appointment early Friday morning with Dr. Leal Hsiao and was running ~5 minutes late due to traffic. I called Doctor's nurse, who assured me that it would not be a problem and that they were running late due to COVID anyways. As I entered the building, 6-7 nurses were positioned to take temperature and general COVID interview protocol. During my COVID protocol, I informed the nurse that I had recently taken my monthly COVID-19 test as required by the county. I was waiting for my results, but I had no COVID symptoms. My previous month's test was negative. I came for my regular physical and that my appointment is at 8:20 AM. The moment the nurse heard of my COVID testing is done, she freaked out and immediately asked me to wait outside of the building. She also handed me a phone number to call for further review. I requested her that my appointment will be delayed further, but she said that we are all running late anyways due to COVID protocols. They all are well aware of delays due to this fact so I won't miss my appointment and that they will inform the Doctor. I came outside and called that number three times β had no response (the number wasn't working). I met another nurse outside and told her about the issue and the phone number that I was trying. She asked me to go inside and tell the nursing staff. I went back to inform her that the number wasn't working, where the first nurse I met came out and yelled at me, asking why I was inside - first off, I was shocked by her disrespectful behavior, but I ignored it understanding that they're undergoing challenging times and explained what I was told by the nurse outside. She said they would check me in, but I have to wait outside of the building only. I realized that speaking the truth of sharing information bounced back to me as if I made a blunder, to tell the truth of my recent COVID testing (BTW, that came out to be negative as well). I came out of the building and waited for 20 minutes. During this time, I again called Doctor's nurse and explained her the situation. She assured me that she would contact Dr. Leal Hsiao to let me in. Well! Five minutes after a nurse came and asked me to check in with the front desk on the second floor. On the second floor, the front desk asked me the reason for the delay and asked me to sign a paper that says that I am here at 8:48AM, whereas my appointment is at 8:20 AM. I wanted to write the reason on that paper, however, the front desk took the paper from me and told me that I cannot write anything on that. Well! The Doctor's nurse told me that Dr. Leal Hsiao let you in; however, since I am late, he will not be seeing me for my physical, but I can be seen for any other thing if I need it. I asked why Dr. Leal Hsiao asked me to come in if he cannot see me today? And why was I asked to sign the paper? The nurse didn't agree to listen to me and asked me to reschedule the appointment. First off, this entire ordeal was ridiculous, and I felt tremendously disrespected. I took off an entire morning from work to schedule this appointment in advance, followed everything they asked me, and even called in advance when I thought I might be slightly late due to 680 road construction. In return, I got to wait for 22 minutes and get yelled at me by the nursing staff, none of whom were on the same page, get called upstairs to get my hopes up that I was about to be seen, only to be told bluntly: "We're busy and cannot see you today". One would hope and expect that in the medical profession, there would be at least some sort of care/empathy for the patient to help them out, but PAMF has turned into a complete corporate $$ sucking machine. Since then, I have never received any phone call from PAMF or the nursing staff to reschedule an appointment or talk about the incident"
