"While it's been a good eight years since I've visited Dr Cohen, not a week goes by where I don't think about the incredible help he was to me and my life. I initially began seeing Dr. Cohen for treatment of severe childhood trauma, some anxiety issues, and help with interacting with my very difficult family. Mainly through EMDR therapy, I can honestly say I became an entirely new person, for the better. My family in particular noticed the changes and reveled in Dr. Cohen's ability to help us become a tighter knit group. I was able to overcome much of the PTSD from my childhood issues, and began living a comfortable, "normal" life. Dr. Cohen was always professional and pragmatic with me. I've had therapists that become "fans" of me - wanting so badly to help, going as far as to give extra time gratis, making other patients wait, etc. I've also had therapists that were cold, distant duds, happy to continue taking co-pays even though they have no treatment ideas, or simply didn't care. Dr. Cohen was a great blend - it was his job to help me, he had a plan to do so, and he was always personable without becoming a friend or a fan. He was glad to do his job, and he did it very well. I have probably seen 20 - 30 different therapists in my life, and while a few here and there were a bit helpful, Dr. Cohen is the one solitary mental health doctor that actually helped me make a long-term change over the two+ years he treated me. The only reason I stopped visiting him is because I moved out of state. I certainly hope my review can bring more people to him for care."
