"Been here twice it’s so good like the staff is sooooo nice and all the therapy is helpful I didn’t think it would be at first but it really was but if your thinking about going to Newport definitely go cause it’s like such a good place and the equine therapy was always my favorite but ya you should definitely go to Newport shingle springs."

"Amazing staff members! There normal shift works, called C.C’s are amazing. All of the groups are very well structured and organized. Same as the day, the day is divided into school time which lasts 3-4 hours and the rest of the day is split into self-work times, process groups and rec times. As well as other activities such as on Mondays equine therapy and special occasions for off site activities such as movies, K1 speed and much more. Your child can make a request for an outing and it will be taken into consideration. I would say this is great for keeping grades up, getting substance use help and most mental health issues. To the C.C who helped me the most I really want to thank, you really helped me."

"Our son was at Newport Academy for approximately 45 days for treatment for substance use disorder. On the third day, they lost him; he climbed out the window in his room and was at large for approximately 36 hours, during which time he used drugs. The bio-psycho-social report we filled out before he arrived emphasized that he was a flight risk and specified that he often climbed out the window, but no one on staff read it. Newport did not provide us with the post-discharge treatment plan they repeatedly promised. The list of counselors they provided included disconnected numbers, counselors practicing in different states, and a counselor we had seen before and specifically said we did not want to work with again. Ultimately, the list included no names of viable counselors. Newport discharged our son with approximately 24 hours notice, citing a dispute with our insurance company. They declined to participate in the reconsideration process with the insurance company that might have made it possible for him to continue care. The abrupt discharge forced us to travel to California on one day’s notice. Our son began using drugs again roughly two weeks after he returned. I would say that Newport didn’t do him any good, but the fact is he had two weeks of sobriety at the hospital before he went in, and he used drugs during his stay at the facility as a result of the staff’s negligence. Newport did him harm. His enrollment in the program damaged our relationship and did nothing to address his drug problem. Newport is an incompetent facility that did not deliver on its promises, and I urge any parent whose child is struggling with addiction to look elsewhere."
