The Garland

"It's a quirky fun 50s-inspired hotel. Staff are extremely helpful and polite. Rooms are a decent size. There's a pool and fitness centre which are included in your room charge. The pool has 2 hot tubs, 1 for families and 1 adults only. Free WiFi is provided throughout the hotel, which is handy. The location is great for universal but reasonably far out for central and downtown LA. There's a free tram/shuttle bus every hour which stops at universal, and the nearby metro station. This takes about 5 minutes. To get to walk of fame area its about 20 minutes on the metro."

"Just stayed 4 nights here. It’s ok. Convenient to universal and the trolley was a plus but the times we used it was not on time. We had early access and unfortunately missed out. The room we had faced a parking lot and a highway which I didn’t know when booking. Extremely loud at night despite their “sound proof” doors. Offered to switch rooms but for an extra charge. The pool was chilly and couldn’t be enjoyed except by children. No drink service while seated. Had to go to the bar itself. Restaurant on site offered very little for children. My child who has allergies was unable to dine there at all. We had to DoorDash or eat out every meal. Not a bad hotel by any means but I don’t think I would do it again."

"GREAT experience here! Booked it through a travel site to go to Universal, but would stay here again. Free shuttle ride was a huge perk. Great atmosphere, very kind and friendly staff, cool calm vibes that catered to us as adults, but also family friendly. Loved the pool and bar area for a late night swim and drink by the fire place! Clean rooms, hot showers, parking is additional cost but plenty of spaces."

"I stayed here with my mom and sister to celebrate my 30th birthday. Everything was wonderful!! The staff were all beyond helpful and accommodating and SO nice. I was especially grateful that they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. The rooms were beautiful, the pool was fantastic, we had a view of Universal and could see Hogwarts from our balcony. The “dive-in” movies were so fun and really added to the homey atmosphere. Normally I get anxious traveling but staying at the Garland truly made me feel at home. Highly recommend."

"The absolute cutest little boutique hotel. We were there 1 night only and chose this hotel due to its super close proximity to Universal and the free shuttle. The room was quiet and clean. The hotel itself was a great vibe. We got in super early from NY and they were able to check us in super early at no additional cost. We had some drinks by the pool that were SO good. The beds were a dream for us, we were very comfortable. The shuttle was prompt. I would definitely stay here again in the future for a 1-2 night quick stay. My only "complaint" is that for the price per night (about $350 for a Friday night including taxes/fees) self parking should really be included as opposed to an additional $33 a night."
