The Center for Story & Symbol, located in Santa Barbara, California, offers continuing education seminars and workshops on the psychology of fairy tales, mythic stories, creativity, movies as mythic imagination, and law and ethics for psychotherapists. Led by psychologist Jonathan Young, PhD, who has worked with mythologist Joseph Campbell, the Center provides CE hours for mental health professionals. Courses are open to all interested in archetypal perspectives and explore the underlying patterns of life through storytelling and discussion. The Center also offers online therapy training, cultural diversity discussions using films like Coco, and ethical considerations in practice. In-house staff trainings and non-credit lectures are available, as well as DVDs of lectures on topics like fairytales and mythology. The Center's mission is to provide opportunities for advanced study of the inner life through the wisdom of ancient storytellers.
