"I had a crown come off suddenly a few weeks ago. The dentist who had installed that crown three years ago said I needed to get a mouth guard because I sometimes grind my teeth, (at night when I'm asleep; other family has told me this) but I hadn't got the mouthguard yet. I looked up emergency dentists when the crown fell of, and Dr. James G Rolfe's name popped up. He was able to fit me in the same day. He was able to make sure the tooth and crown were okay, and re-cement the crown on. Then he said I really did need to get a mouth guard. I knew he was right; I had delayed getting a custom made mouth guard because I have two three year olds who keep me really busy, and I didn't know what the cost would be. I asked Dr. Rolfe if he could make a mouthguard for me. I was out of town from my insurance coverage, which didn't cover it anyways, that's why I asked if he could make one. He made me a custom made mouthguard the next week, and it helps. It cost $400 out of pocket. Getting the crown back on was less than $150. I had thought that these costs would be a lot more, so I'm really grateful. Also, I realized that Dr. Rolfe is a genuinely good person, so I'm glad I could bring my business there."

He was very knowledgeable, but rather then simply taking the business (which, of course, would come at a price), he suggested that I first check to see if my dentist provides after hour services (which he did). "Dr. Rolfe saved my vacation!! My nephew was visiting me at a hotel in Santa Barbara and woke up at 3 AM in terrible pain and with a very swollen jaw. I looked up dentists on the Internet and called a few at 8 AM but it was Christmas week and no one was in. One great nurse told me about Dr. Rolfe and advised me to call him ASAP. I did and he answered the phone! We drove to his office and after taking X-rays, he told my nephew that he had an infection in his jaw, gave him antibiotics for 5 days and told him exactly when he was going to feel better. It all came to pass and we were able to enjoy our time together and do everything we had planned. Dr. Rolfe was kind, thorough, accommodating and so reassuring!! I would recommend him to anyone. If I lived in Santa Barbara he would definitely be my dentist. He is fabulous!!!"

"Dr. Rolfe immediately answered the phone at 5am after our son fell out of bed and cracked his tooth. The office was welcoming, ecclectic, and fun. Dr. Rolfe's bedside manner was superb. His treatment plan was honest and well explained. While we paid upfront and our insurance will be billed later, the price was nothing I could or would argue about.
