"After our sons death, we discover that he was prescribed opiates. Dr. Guimaraes had knowledge, he was in recovery. Records were not kept, counseling or lab work to monitor his treatment was not being done. It is extremely negligent for a practice to operate in this manner. He was a patient for over 8 years but was never diagnosed with any condition. It evident that lawsuits like the one Perdue Pharmaceutical lost has not deterred some doctors from profiting from their patients. Drug dealers are held responsible for their behavior while doctors have powerful attorneys and are protected. Blame the patients , it’s disgusting when profit is a priority and not human life."
