"If I could give zero stars I would. Please read the other one star review below. She was completely uninterested in my daughter and didn’t acknowledge her (and my adorable daughter who never wants asks to dress up, asked to wear her princess dress to the appointment. So she was extra cute that day. Dr. Kern couldn’t care less). We were talking about a pretty serious issue and my 2 year old kept trying to get my attention and talking while the “doctor” was talking. Instead of doing what any normal adult would do, stop talking so I can talk to my 2 year old and tell her it’s the doctors turn to talk, she proceed to talk rapid fire over my daughter AND me while I was trying to quiet down my kid. It was such a horrible experience, I was half apologizing trying to focus on what steps to take and half livid at the complete disregard and respect she was showing me and my child. No smiles, very cold. I left having no idea on what steps to take next it was so stressful! This happened TWICE. Had I known she was the doctor I was seeing again, I would have canceled but I was more worried about my daughters health. Overall Rady’s has been horrible. Never a consistent doctor, always waiting for far too long. If you are scheduled with Dr. Kern, cancel immediately and find someone who is going to show your child the attention and care they deserve."

"Decided to use Dr Kern for my children based on great reviews on other sites. Plus, being a physician myself, her credentials are outstanding. Wanted kids seen at an academic center realizing this meant they may NOT see Dr Kern the majority of the time but would be seen by medical students and highly competent residents under her or other attending physicians guidance. The benefit of this is those attending physicians would be staying current on recent literature to stay up to date on their practice patterns. Have been very happy with the care they have received from Dr Kern and the Rady/UCSD system."

"Dr. Lead D. Kern has caused emotional trauma, loss of wages and pain and suffering to my children and our family. She is the by far the worst physician and person my family have ever experienced!!!! Our children were under her care for 4 years. Because of her medical mistakes and oversights she has turned our life upside down and inside out and she has zero remorse for what she did to us. I explained my formal complaints against her and her medical license and that she was fired from working with my family. The only thing she had to say was "I'm sorry you're firing me." Without sharing the terrible details of what she did please know that as of April 9th, 2021 Dr. Leah D. Kern is being formally investigated by the State of California Medical Board and the Osteopathic Board of Medicine for Medical Malpractice, Medical Negligence and Medical Fraud. She also has to respond to a grievances and a list of other complaints with UCSD Health and Rady Children's Hospital. She was late to 100% of our appointments and for 30-50% of our appointments she never showed up at all, but instead, sent someone else in her place without warning. She never even personally filled out a immunization form for our children's schools. For 2 appointments she arrived over 2 hours late and did not apologize. I would never use her or even inquire to have her see your children. We originally went to her for her specialized expertise in certain areas, but she never provided any educational information or medical advice that any regular pediatrician could have provided. Our family is very disappointed with the type of person we learned Leah actually is once our children were under her care. We feel that we were literally a co-pay, not a family in which she provided care. She is NOT personal. She is NOT nice and she does NOT take a special and personal interest in your kids as little people or you as a parent. Please find another pediatrician and save yourself the grief we are experiencing from making the terrible mistake of using Dr. Leah D. Kern as our pediatrician. Please save your children and yourself from the pain, the hurt and the nightmare we are now experiencing."
