Sacramento State Paramedic Program

The Sacramento State Paramedic Program, located at 335 Arnold Avenue in McClellan Park, California, is a leading institution for individuals seeking to advance their careers in emergency medical services. As the first and only California State University campus to offer a paramedic program, we provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in this critical field.

Our program includes a comprehensive curriculum that covers advanced emergency treatment, patient care, and transportation. With a focus on preparing students for roles as clinicians, advocates, educators, and leaders in the prehospital health care system, we offer a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Students in our program benefit from a wide range of clinical and field provider agency contracts, leading to minimal lag time between program phases. This results in most students completing the program in one year or less. Additionally, our students consistently outperform national averages on the National Registry Exam.

Applicants must have completed an EMT Basic course and obtained certification, as well as pass the Test of Essential Academic Skill (TEAS) for Nursing exam. While prior EMT experience is preferred, it is not required. Students apply directly to the program and are not required to meet Sacramento State admissions criteria.

Our program is approved by the Sacramento County Emergency Medical Services Agency, the State of California Emergency Medical Services Authority, and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. With a recent National Registry exam success rate of 96.8% and positive placement rate of 96.9%, our graduates are well-prepared for success in the field.
