"Employees fill the parking spots in Lot G, which has a sign stating that it is the "Patient and Vistor" parking lot. They don't care. Parking was scarce early in the morning and we had to hike a mile to get to my appointment. Meanwhile, the guest transport cars whiz by us empty. At 5:30 am, the first few rows of Lot G were packed with employee cars. You can see employees coming and going to their cars. We parked in the boonies there. I got my blood drawn and it was fine, well done to the young woman there. We Got to our doctor appointment early and I sat in the waiting room for about 20 minutes. At 6:56am, "Receptionist Richard" walked in and told me "Hey Boss" and that I had to leave the waiting room, that I was in there too early and if the door was closed, that meant not to come in. That is how he greeted me. The Door was open but the lights were off when I arrived. I said nothing and left as he ordered, shuffling out to the hallway and sat back down. Richard shut the door behind me. Four minutes later, he opened the doors back up and told the few of us that were waiting in the hall, that we could come in now. Not feeling well (nauseous) and with back surgery, these is the game they play. They could care less. I didn't think I deserved that. My doctor was fine and we left. Cancer sucks and so do some employees there. I feel like cattle being shuffled around. I've been coming here 15 years, employees have gotten worse, no compassion, no customer service or understanding of person's situation. Sad."
"Top notch cancer center has been taking care of my BFF for about 6-7 years now and she's still cancer free!!"
"I’m so upset my mom had to wait a long time for an appointment and had to see Dr Victoria Villaflor, after waiting 3 hours! She is so entitled and is one of those doctors who seem to have studied a lot just to humiliate others and feel superior. She has no compassion and made my mom cry and feel so bad, please don’t take your loved ones with her. The same day we decided to leave our care with City of “Hope” and took my mom to UC San Diego with much nicer doctors and with a better background. Not all doctors are like this, there are plenty human ones. Having cancer is hard enough already, get a good doctor for your loved ones. I’m sure there must be good compassionate doctors here too, but I had this horrid experience and had to leave immediately. The doctor helper was also very rude. Only some receptionists and nurses were nice."
"Great hospital and staff. Security is great to get in. I read reviews and know that city of hope has a difficult job.. patients are desperate for a miracle and encouraging help but it’s not always possible and then the patient and family are upset. It’s a unavoidable situation. Sorrow is great In what they try to do. Families are always going to be upset. It’s a great institution."
