"I have never had so much fun dancing as I have had, since coming to Orange Coast Ballroom. The Saturday night group lesson at 7:45 teaches you the basics of a dance plus a little 'extra' for those who already have some familiarity with it. The practice party afterwards is exactly what it should be: a big dance floor, not too crowded, and a nice, friendly group of people to dance with. To me, the best thing is that Miguel Perez and his wife Julia, make sure that no one just sits. They both dance with everyone there and it has improved my skill level (and confidence) to be able to dance with 'the pros'. Even if you don't know a particular dance, they say "come on, lets try it together". Periodically, they lead some group dances, and we do the Hustle, a 'Samba' or a 'Bacchata' together. It is so fun and we all leave the floor smiling. I have been to some other ballrooms where I 'sat' and no one asked me to dance at all; that does NOT happen at Orange Coast Ballroom. I also started taking private lessons with Miguel and I cannot believe how much I have improved. He expects his students to learn and use the correct techniques but he does it in a patient, encouraging and supportive manner. This is the place to come if you want to learn to dance!"

"In preparing for our wedding, my husband wanted to take dance lessons so he didn't have to rock side to side for our first dance. I knew it would be a blast, but he was skeptical. We both had the best time at lessons and practicing together at home. Miguel elevated our level of dance beyond what we could have ever imagined. Our friends and family loved seeing us enjoy sharing what we learned. We were both beaming from ear to ear. My father, who is not a dancer, also came to lessons with me. Miguel broke down the steps in a way that my dad could understand, and in a way completely different from how he taught my husband.
