"Great intro course 8weeks at an extremely affordable price and great instruction, the instructors are thorough and helpful and teach from historical manuscripts/writings. They can lend you gear and the metal/synthetic training swords so you don’t have to worry about any price point to jump in! It is extremely fun. For those that have trained in martial arts and/or with firearms. Training in HEMA gives that same focus and therapeutic feeling and knowing that you’re using a tool/weapon that has been right there along humanity for thousands of years gives this kind of mysticism and historical pride. I love it and highly recommend SoCal Swords"

"Great place to learn HEMA or buy gear. Instructors are skilled, dude running the place is chill, overall good school to train from. They have lessons nearly every day of the week, and loan gear to students who don't have it. If you do want to purchase gear, they can tell you about all the gear you'll need/different places to buy from, will let you try it on in store before purchasing, and are very active on social media. Never needed to return anything to them, so Idk about their return policy. Highly recommend, 10/10."

"SoCal swords is an incredible school of swordsmanship. I recently had the privilege of competing in a lightsaber tournament there and got to meet some of the staff and students of SoCal Swords in friendly spirited combat. The instructors are incredible duelists their techniques and ability to relay information give no doubt in their capabilities to instruct you in the ways of the sword. Friendly, compassionate and eager to share knowledge they are wonderful people who have dedicated themselves to the study and teaching of martial arts. The school also supports a supply outpost so you can go from knowing nothing about steel sword fighting, to owning your own gear and being a proficient duelist in whatever amount of time you set for yourself. The gear is really high quality, fairly priced for all of us on the struggle life in Southern California. In short SoCal Swords is a veritable paradise for those of us who never got over our childlike urges to Swordfight each other."

The club also emphasizes the importance of safety and communication during both instruction and sparring with a set of guidelines, the most important of which is an 'intensity level'.
