"I’m not being malicious in my assessment, I’m just being honest in regard to my experience in hopes that anyone who is in a acute phase of desperation and vulnerability will not worsen their mental wellness by allowing themselves to be worsened by this individuals outdated so called therapeutic processes known as talk therapy First, he advertises that he does emdr....not only does he not do emdr (will never initiate it) he does not believe in its therapeutic benefits nor does he know how to apply its application. I am currently studying emdr and am working on getting certified and now that I know it’s proper applications and benefits. , I am offended by his poor knowledge of the entire approach. Especially since that is one of his selling points. What about somatic processing application/education?? .... forget about it....auditory bi nuero application??....clueless... journaling techniques and education.???... never. What he is good at is listening. Like a passive neighbor. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. To the person reading, do you know that the current research states that journaling and EMDR are superior to talk therapy??? Why doesn’t he educate the client on the latest therapeutic healing practices???? I now know why....Because he does not know. After two sessions I could honestly tell that he had no passion left in his career... nor advanced wisdom in the field of mental health. In addition several conversations and statements that he applied were not only offensive, but actually dangerous. For example: “ I mean this in all reverence, (he stated) you are not a Christian” (I have know Christ my whole life) I swear to God he told me this. He also made the comparison to my deep sadness and despair to that of a psychopaths beginnings. Again, I swear to God this conversation occurred. I believe it was Jeffrey Dahmer or some other serial killers beginnings he brought up. In addition, he brought up politics (Clearly a Trump supporter) as well as comparisons to others situations “Your situation was not as bad as hers” It was remarkable. If you are in a very stable place and need someone to vent to I say you found the right person. If you are “soul” hurting, please do yourself a favor and find a therapist who is knowledgeable with the latest techniques and that truly knows how to relate. I am a follower of Christ and I can say confidently now that I would rather have an expert atheist facilitate my healing than a poorly educated Christian try....any day. Persevere"
