"I’ve had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Jenn and Marguerite, who comprise Bay Area Speech. Below is a factual recount of events that has led me to leave this poor review. Marguerite was nearly impossible to get in touch with via phone call, and the majority of our interaction happened via text. This typically wouldn’t be an issue except for the poor response times, as noted below. After scheduling the initial assessment session I reached out to Marguerite on Monday 6/13 to schedule further sessions, but no response until that evening saying I would hear from her tomorrow. No response until late Thursday that week. I asked Marguerite a few questions regarding billing practices with our insurance company. No response for approximately 1.5-2 weeks. I was incorrectly billed for hourly sessions, whereas all sessions were half an hour. Once this was rectified we had to reschedule all existing scheduled sessions. This was not changed in their system as all remaining text message appointment reminders were incorrect. I reached out to Marguerite a second time to schedule more sessions (wife is a travel nurse and gets her schedule 6 weeks at a time), and it took about 2 days to hear back from Marguerite again. Out of approximately 10 sessions, Jenn was late to two sessions and canceled another two sessions last minute. After reaching out to Jenn regarding issues we were running into with Marguerite, there was no response for approximately two weeks. Her response did not address any concerns and simply asked that we focus on my daughters therapy. At the beginning of our time with them, we were informed that they are not in network, which is not an issue. However, I noticed claims were being processed as in-network with our insurance provider after a specific date. After speaking with our insurance, they confirmed that Jenn was now in network as of that date. I reached out to Marguerite for clarification, but received a rude response from Jenn. Insurance is still trying to work this out with Jenn, but this has been ongoing for over a month. It appears we were billed incorrectly for a few of our sessions, but at this point it’s not worth the headache to try and resolve. For perspective, my daughter is developmentally delayed (physical and speech). I’ve worked with about half a dozen different therapists (wife is a travel nurse, so we’ve been on the road for the past year) and have never experienced such a poorly run business. Since being in CA, we were faced with the choice of waiting about a month for an assessment with one speech therapist, or getting right in the Bay Area speech. It turns out we made the wrong choice. We’ve since moved forward with the other speech therapist and wish we had gone with them initially."
