About Us
San Diego Danceworks, located at 2653 Ariane Drive in San Diego, California, is a dance institution that believes in the transformative power of dance as an art form. Our compassionate and knowledgeable teachers respect individual body types and developmental needs, encouraging creativity and expression of feelings in our students.
Under the direction of Barbara Rinaldo since 1993, our studio features two dance studios with sprung floors for the safety of our dancers. We welcome families and provide a viewing area for children's classes. Throughout the year, we perform at community events such as Craft Fairs and Fall Festivals, as well as collaborate with Creative Stages of San Diego to perform The Nutcracker annually in December.
At San Diego Danceworks, we offer Acro Skills classes that focus on conditioning, flexibility, and strength for the athleticism of acrobatics. Dancers in these classes are required to take ballet to develop the technique needed to seamlessly blend dance and acrobatics. Our classes are designed in a progression with students evaluated by the instructor before placement. Students must be comfortable with partnering situations and being lifted, and can expect to learn cartwheels, handstands, somersaults, and bridges. "San Diego Danceworks is the best. Our 5 year old daughter has been going there for 2.5 years and we just started our 2.5 year old just a couple months ago. They both love it. I think that is all that really matters, but we have really liked the community and friends we have made since joining her studio. Besides the classes, our daughter has also attended 2 of the ballerina camps and loved it. The performances that Barbara has created have been outstanding at the fair, a local high school, and a retirement community. I can't believe how well they work with the kids. The kids are treated with respect and courtesy. They listen to her so well! This is an easy 5 stars."
