"Defense Arts Center is the place to go if you are interested in learning or having your child learn authentic, traditional Japanese Karate. My son has been going to DAC for a year now and it's been a great experience for him. The instructor, Sensei Ty, is very professional, kind, and caring. His karate program teaches kihon (basic moves), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring), as well as self-defense movements. While there are many karate dojos/training centers around this area, including Upland, Ontario, Ranco Cucamonga, etc., this is the only place where you can learn real Japanese karate-do, namely Shotokan karate, one of the four major styles of Karate that are Shotokan-ryu, Goju-ryu, Shito-ryu, and Wado-ryu."
"If you're seeking a genuine Shotokan Karate experience this is your dojo! Sensei Ty Aponte leads with remarkable expertise, and my family's journey here has been fantastic. My son joined a year ago, followed by my daughter six months later, and recently, I've joined in too β training three days a week under the guidance of three skilled sensei. The learning curve for some techniques can be challenging, but the instructors are incredibly patient, taking the time to explain and demonstrate practical applications, ensuring everyone stays engaged. What's fantastic is the welcoming atmosphere for all ages β from kids to middle-aged parents like myself. Beyond Shotokan Karate, the dojo offers various other martial arts styles like Aikido, Wing Chung, Kodubo, and more, broadening the learning opportunities for anyone interested. New students are even offered a free week of training, which is a great way to experience the dojo firsthand. The dojo is located in the Eleventh Street business park with plenty of parking spaces. . Highly recommend!"
"Defense Arts Center is a great school, they have a wide variety of lessons to choose/learn from. The instructors are really supportive and helpful, they each know very well the techniques they are teaching and how to work out a person's pace. Also they are well knowledge in the fields they are teaching. The dojo is kept nice and tidy and at the same time cleaned. Overall, if you are looking for a place to learn defense arts come to this place the staff is amazing, the classes are great and the place is beautiful to train at."
"This is truly a wonderful dojo to come and train traditional karate. The instructors have all been great and I have learned some amazing techniques. This is a very family friendly dojo, and the pricing is very reasonable given the quality of instruction. If you want to learn genuine martial arts, you found the right place! Highly recommend!"
"One of the best thing I've done in the recent years is signing up for Karate at Defense Arts Center in Upland. The journey has been wonderful. I get to be trained under some of the best and most dedicated teachers in this area. Sensei Ty Aponte and Sensei David Blair are particularly top notch and highly respected in the Karate community, along with many other excellent instructors. There are also other arts at this school including Jujutsu, Kendo, Iaido (Japanese swords), and Taichi, all taught by individual Master in each art. As far as martial art training, it does not get better than this."
