"My nephew signed up for a 12-month Kung Fu membership, but unfortunately, he injured his neck during one of the classes at the facility. He has undergone weekly physical therapy sessions and has been examined by an orthopedic surgeon since the incident. However, the facility refuses to refund the $3,122 paid for the membership and insists that he should continue attending Kung Fu classes, despite the medical advice against it. We have provided them the necessary medical documentation signed by the surgeon, stating that he is no longer able to participate in these activities due to his injury, but they continue to refuse to return any money. This is in direct violation of the contract, which clearly states that membership can be terminated and refunded if medical documentation is provided. I strongly advise anyone not to trust this place, as they seem to be taking advantage of their customers and are an absolute rip-off!!!! Extremely disappointed with the way they handled this situation!"
"My 5 yr old started at East West Kung Fu last April and has been coming a couple days a week ever since. We enrolled him due to a heart condition that prevents his participation in contact sports and to help him with emotional regulation. Not only have we seen improvements in those areas but in his communication skills as well. I love seeing him raise his hand to answer questions/ demonstrate moves in class. The staff is truly invested in the students’ advancement as well as their all around wellbeing."
"The instructors and staff at East West in Alamo are patient, knowledgeable, professional, caring and friendly. They have worked with me one on one and group training to help me accomplish goals I never thought I could achieve. East West has given me the tools to overcome my anger issues and become a better and more compassionate person. The camaraderie and team building between instructors/staff and students has kept me coming back for 42 years. I have enjoyed watching the young students grow into Blackbelts and World Champions. I am proud to be a student at East West! ~ Albert Perez"
"To anyone who ever wants to invest in themselves and or their child’s life, instill respect, discipline, and values. You will experience a group of caring and well educated Teachers that will not only transform you physically but more importantly, develop your person from within...... I have been meaning to write this and speak with East West for a long time, but today was the day. I spoke with Mr. Hodges and filled them in on how well my daughters are doing. My daughters would not be where they are today if it were not for the East West Experience. My daughters became part of the East West Family when they were 6 and 4 years old. Although we studied with East West for 4 years, they still carry the lessons and foundation that was developed with East West so many years later. Today, older daughter is 19 and a freshman at Santa Clara University my other daughter is a sophomore in High School in Southern California. They are both athletes and thriving in school, I say this not to brag but to attribute this success in part to the early disciplines East West shares with each one of their students. I can promise that if you commit yourself East West you will enrich your life as well as your families life. Forever appreciative. Respectfully, Chuck Steel"
"My two children and I have been studying at East West Kung Fu for many years, and I can unequivocally say our lives have been forever changed for the better. In 2005, I began researching martial arts school as I wanted a personal outlet and hoped to study kung fu as I had previously in college in San Francisco. At the same time, I did not want to go to a here today, gone tomorrow type of school. I was pleasantly surprised to find East West, i.e. what appeared to be a quality martial arts school, in the midst of the suburbs and with a long standing reputation in the community. Thankfully, I found the right place. While it was initially a little intimidating to start training at a new school, I found the teachers to be sincere, friendly and professional, helping to ease any nervousness I had in starting. More importantly, the teachers also provided quality instruction and motivated the students. The classes were fun, and I enjoyed training with my classmates who subsequently became my friends. A few months after I started studying at East West, my son, who was 5 years old at the time, started as well. He had a shy, cautious personality so I hoped his training at East West would him build his confidence. Boy, did it ever! I have watched him change from a little boy, who wanted to quit playing soccer because he was cautious and afraid of contact, to a confident teenage boy who plays competitive soccer with the confidence and mental focus he has gained from the training and supportive teachers at East West. Did this happen over night? No, of course not. It was a slow, steady process developed by the school via the classes, various school events, and most importantly, the dedicated East West teachers. My son is still actively training at East West as kung fu remains his primary extra-curricular activity, and he is undeniably a different person than what he would have been if he had not studied at East West. My daughter was only 15 months old when I started training, but a few years later, she started her training at East West when she was 4 years old. She is now 13 years old, and like her brother and I, she continues to actively train at East West while competing nationally and internationally in tournaments. She has learned self discipline, focus, and confidence from her training. Her best friends are at East West, and she loves and trusts the East West teachers. She and my son do not remember what life was like before our family was part of the East West community, and we would not have it any other way. My children and I consider the staff and students at East West as our second family. I love my training at East West. It has helped me grow in mind, body and spirit. It has also been a joy as a parent to watch my son and daughter grow at East West as it has been such a positive influence on their lives as well. If you expect you and/or your children to be changed overnight, perhaps this is not the right school for you. But if you are looking for high quality martial arts school with a commitment to their students and the ability to change lives for the better, this is the school for you."
