"I'm really disappointed in Dr. Allen. While we were very happy with the amount of time he spent with us in the initial appointment and he doesn't seem to rush his consults, I have concerns about Dr. Allen's professional conduct as well that of his nurse, Jamie. My sons' last visit was very stressful for them both and uncomfortable for me. Dr. Allen kept shaking his head and rebuffing my explanation saying, "No...no -- no" when I explained that the pharmacy couldn't get hold of him or his nurse regarding a prescription that Dr. Allen sent to the wrong pharmacy (and didn't return calls to that pharmacy for a couple of months, and didn't return calls from another doctor that Dr. Allen scheduled appointments with for my son that he took upon himself to make without first consulting my son or me). It was unbelievable how unprofessional Dr. Allen was in that last appointment; so much so that I was in utter shock and disbelief. When he started talking about my son not going to appointments with a social worker I explained we never made those appointments with any social worker; Dr. Allen replied, "I did!" even though my son stated he didn't want to talk to anyone else. My son felt pressured to sit alone with Dr. Allen when the doctor wanted to talk to him. I told my son "...if you don't want me to leave, say so, if you don't want to talk to Dr. Allen about anything else, say so..." Even more strange and concerning is that the doctor remarked about one of my other sons performance in a local play, saying he heard about it and how good his performance was. When I asked how he knew this he said his nurse was there. I thought it odd but then outside, in the parking lot, my youngest (the actor) said he forgot to tell me that Dr. Allen's nurse, Jamie, was at the play one night and stayed long after all the patrons left. He said that while the children were cleaning the auditorium Jamie stayed there. And he said after they were done cleaning Jamie was "...still just standing there..." making the children feel ill at ease. My son said that Jamie (wearing her name tag from work) approached him and asked for his brother's (the patient) phone number. When I asked what compelled him to give that information to someone outside of the medical office and considering he's a minor, my son said he felt "...cornered...if I didn't give it to her she wasn't going to go away." If this isn't concerning enough, Dr. Allen, seemingly oblivious to the messages left for him by me, the pharmacist and schedulers, told me that he was "...just about to..." come to our house "...to figure out what was going on..." Never in my life have I experienced behavior like this from any kind of doctor or other medical professional. I don't even know anyone who has ever experienced anything like this because I've asked. I'm editing this review in light of information from a neighbor that someone fitting the doctor's description was at my eldest son's home within a couple of days of that last appointment. I recall that when I was at my son's house at that time, I heard unexpected knocking at the door but I didn't answer because I never answer the door in any home of mine when I'm not expecting someone. I did speak with the Addison clinic's office manager at the suggestion of the scheduler familiar with this situation, Carol. I don't know how much attention this manager will give this matter, but in the best interests of all his patients the doctor and his nurse should revisit basic boundaries unless they wish to be thought of as intruding upon their patients and their private lives."
