"Going to make this as short as possible but if you’re in a hurry there’s a tl;dr at the bottom. I’ll start at the beginning. Made a new patient appointment almost 2 months ago for a no concerns yearly PAP. Was emailed paperwork which I filled out and set aside to take on appointment day. Appointment day arrived. My toddler was fighting nap time, husband works from home but was in a meeting so he couldn’t assist. She finally fell asleep leaving me 5 minutes to get ready. That’s fine, I can skip doing my makeup, no problem. Got to the office 10 minutes before my appointment time. Realized in my rush to get out of the house I had left my paperwork sitting at home. I know, I know, I should have put it in the car the night before or something but we’ve all been there, right? Approach the receptionist and apologize for not being the requested 15 minutes early and let her know I forgot my paperwork. She says that’s totally fine you can fill it out again while you wait. Awesome, huge sigh of relief, because again, I have a toddler and it’s hard to find time for doctor appointments. 5 minutes later I’m sitting in the waiting area filling out my paperwork and the nurse pops out to talk to me. She tells me that because I forgot my paperwork & wasn’t the full 15 minutes early Dr. Young will not see me and I will need to reschedule. She directs me back to the receptionist I checked in with to reschedule. That receptionist (who was incredibly sweet and helpful and I have no qualms with her at all) tells me she can’t schedule appointments which the nurse knows and I have to go in through the door the nurse closed on me to the staff at the check out counter. She then was nice enough to open the door for me so I could speak to the correct person. First available appointment for any doctor was another month away. Cool. I made sure to request a different doctor because after going through 1 pregnancy already I know that an OBGYN should be someone you can trust to be available when you have questions and concerns and I have zero confidence Dr. Young and her staff can provide that. Tl;dr: Dr. Young and her nurse are either way too busy or just don’t care about their patients enough to be trusted with your care. Especially for something as important as having a baby when you want a doctor team who will be there for you and will be available when you need them. Pick literally any other OBGYN. Don’t waste your time trying to see Dr. Young, she’ll probably just refuse to see you anyways."
