"Dr. Makela is phenomenal, amazing, kind and smart. She’s incredible. These are only a few words that describe Dr. Sandra Makela. I have known Dr. Makela for over 21 years. I met her when I was in my mid 20’s frustrated by not getting answers to the medical issues I had been suffering. Numerous other doctors I saw treated me with indifference, either minimizing my idiopathic symptoms or going to the extreme and recommending a hysterectomy as the best option to address my problems. Thankfully Dr. Makela listened and cared. Not only did she treat and resolve my gynecologic issues, she also delivered my first born. Because of Dr. Makela I now have two beautiful young boys. Where others would have had me childless. In addition to being a fantastic physician Dr. Makela is a wonderful person. When I meet with her it’s like talking with a friend. She’s my Angel! Unfortunately, life changes took us in different directions geographically and now in my 50’s I began experiencing a different set of feminine issues. Once again I had a parade of shortsighted impatient doctors who were quick to dismiss my problems when they were not able to ascertain a standard diagnosis. But once again fate smiled upon me as I learned Dr. Makela had moved to the Bay Area and opened a boutique gynecology practice. So now it is so worth taking the one hour drive to be treated by a physician who hears me, acknowledges my issues and treats me effectively.
