"Because it is now considered out patient surgery, you have some options available when it comes hip replacement rehabilitation. This was my second go around when it comes to total hip replacement surgery. I elected to stay at a rehab facility for a couple of weeks rather than try to do it from home. My wife and I researched a number of facilities in the Madison metro area, settled on six, sorted through those and selected three to visit. We based those final three on the quality of their rooms based on website photos, construction of the website, reputation (both local media, and any word of mouth that might have come our way), and location. Any medical professionals we had been in contact with also were asked generally who they might recommend. We are thrilled we chose Maplewood in Sauk City. The care has been outstanding from the meals served to the rehab and occupational therapy I’ve received. No care facility is going to compete with an all exclusive resort on the gulf side of Florida but the folks that work at Maplewood come closer than you might imagine. Everyone is so pleasant and anxious to serve from housekeeping, to PT and nursing staff. The staff is top notch, knowledgeable and enjoy helping their patients. The nurses do a great job of keeping track of not only the pain killers I am on post op but the multiple prescriptions I'm on during the rest of the day. I have progressed quickly in PT and OT due to the close coordination with my surgeon and the staff at Maplewood. The result of that effort means there is a very good chance I will be going home a week ahead of schedule. There is a real sense from everyone I had contact with that they want to help get you getter and to do it in a pleasant supportive way. Two big things you notice right away when you walk in: Maplewood doesn’t have that nursing homes smell. It is fresh and smells clean. The other thing you notice is how happy everyone is, staff and patients. People are cheerful in how they great each other in the halls. Chuckles are the norm as you walk by open patient rooms with Euchre and its hand slaps on the table. If you do decide to use Maplewood, be certain to ask about Barbara…their very own 3 ton elephant who walked down the hallways."
"My 88 year old mom entered Maplewood for rehab with a broken hip. The physical and speach therapists tried all they could but in my mom’s condition she went downhill quickly. She then went to the nursing home area in Maplewood, Sauk Prairie. What I loved about Maplewood (rehab and nursing home) - The staff was amazing from the nurses, CNA’s, therapists, cooks, cleaning crews and administrators. They were all so caring, and compassionate and loving, for both my mom and me. I felt like they truly cared. - The administration was so easy to work with. They explained everything regarding my mom’s care. They were also compassionate in helping me navigate this stage in my mom’s life. They even arranged transportation's to get my mom to a doctor appointment - The facility was always immaculate and welcoming. I felt welcome anytime I went to visit. - Mom thought the food was great and they tried to make eating easier for her. I asked if I could wright a testimonial because I wanted to let others considering services for a loved one, this place and staff are wonderful. I highly recommend Maplewood, Sauk Prairie."
"My husband had young onset Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia. He was at Maplewood during the last few months of his life and the care he received was amazing. The staff treated him so tenderly and with so much compassion it almost made me cry. It was very clear that everyone had been trained in dementia care, which is so important. I knew that he was in the right place when I heard laughter in the halls...if the staff is happy it's a very good sign. I would recommend Maplewood to anyone looking for a place for their loved one (food is good, too)."
"The hospital suggested we go to Maplewood Nursing Home after my husbands knee surgery. We were impressed with the care he received. The two weeks he was there, he received 38 hours of rehabilitation. The staff was very knowledgeable and helped him get where he wanted to be. He was strong enough to go home and do for himself. Overall, everything was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and encouraging. We would recommend Maplewoods physical therapy to anyone who is need of physical therapy."
"Hi. I'm Tom Schwartz. I live in Dane, WI. In February of 2015, I had both hips replaced at Sauk Prairie Hospital. I was sent to Maplewood on February 6th to begin my rehab. I can honestly say that I didn't know what to expect. The staff was outstanding! From the kitchen staff to the nurses to the therapists who helped me get my life back. I am now living a productive and pain free life. The therapists showed me great patience and kindness during rehab. My nurses were always there if I needed anything and they were soooo nice! I would highly recommend Maplewood to anyone requiring rehab. If I would require rehab in the future, I would look forward to having it at Maplewood! Thank You again for everything! You gave me back my life!"
