"This is a nice small shop with mostly stuff for free diving, spear fishing, and scuba. They have dive weights for $6/lb that are nicely coated. Overall the shop is nice and the staff is friendly, but they lacked a bit of knowledge on the equipment, so weren’t as helpful when it comes to details on gear. If you are debating on equipment and want expertise, then maybe try a more dive focused shop"
"Best Spearfishing and Freedive gear shop in the bay area. The owner shares great knowledge."
"Terrible customer service... require an appointment to get assistance with Spearfishing equipment (is that on your website?). I am from North Texas, and had a scheduled Vacation down in Islamorada Key, Florida for a week of SCUBA/Free diving, Lobster harvesting and spearfishing. However, I had to be over in Belmont for training the week prior. No stores in North Texas to purchase a decent Spear gun (also wanted a rubber/flexible weight belt), and I was ready to invest approx $400 in a timber (teak) spear gun (settled on an 48" AB Biller from Diver's Direct in Ft. Lauderdale with the lever safety over the trigger that I can see from either side of the gun when taking someone down) for my wife at another store. I also needed bands for several smaller/shorter range spearguns (JBL)). I visited SCUBA Fusion dive center in San Mateo, CA on Wednesday August 7. While I did purchase a spearfishing float/bouy, (was interested in a nice Aqualung travel bag with side cavities for fins) they didn't offer any guns. Fusion then MISTAKENLY recommended this location. It was after 6, and with the terrible traffic in the area, it wasn't possible to make it to Anderson's on that day, and so I made plans to drive out there the next (Thursday). I wasted 45 minutes driving out to Monterey area (we will be back there next summer to dive). I arrive and customer service for Dive equipment was terrible. I was scolded by a lady at the desk for pulling one of their smaller teak guns off the shelf. I informed her I was here to purchase a teak gun. She was more interested in getting the children back to their pool for swimming lessons. She told me that spear-guns, and equipment, are only offered by appointment (??), and there was no one there to sell me a gun (or talk about the bands). I replaced the gun on the shelf, and set down the rubber weight belt, and walked out of the store. That was a waste of my time, drive, and you they lost out on a $300+ sale. Good news is that my wife is a real spear hunter, and shot several legal Schoolmaster snapper (gun is a little overkill, but she loved it). I managed to rid the reef of several lion-fish. Bad news, we only harvested 3 legal Caribbean Lobster, and a single Spanish lobster."
"Went in to get snorkeling gear for an upcoming trip and they were so helpful! Got assistance right away, gave good recommendations, and made it a very easy process. Exciting to go snorkeling! Thanks!"
"I was taking my first freediving lessons in Monterey and called ahead I rented to rent some gear. I gave my height and weight, and the next day when I showed up Andy had everything ready for me in a bag. Super easy. I ended up returning the gear a day late and they were super chill about it and didn't even charge me."
