"I hear there's no place like home. But if such a place exists on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus, it's Bret Harte House. We have cozy couches and a radio tuned into KRFH-FM, our student radio station -- Radio Free Humboldt. We often have bagels, fresh bread, and other baked treats. And a coffee maker! Our journalism students and media makers are spectacular and deserve the best."
"Amazing Professors and Students! Journalism degree is a Bachelors degree in Journalism & Mass Communications, very hands-on, first year students are producing media and publications, that by near graduation, students are hired by local media and news, and beyond. Check out student media: The Lumberjack, El Lenador (an English & Spanish newspaper), KRFH-FM Radio Free Humboldt, Osprey, and more. I love that their doors are open, and they have a very cool student office lounge area. Their website includes: We prepare you for careers in journalism and public relations. At Cal Poly Humboldt, our journalism and public relations students train to be trustworthy content gatherers and reliable storytellers. Our students delve into media creation in their first semester by creating blogs, taking photos, conducting interviews, and producing videos and podcasts. These are some of the opportunities you have with us: He reports and writes for The Lumberjack and El Leñador. Contributes featured content to Osprey magazine. Broadcasts live bands on KRFH-FM radio. Create a public relations campaign for a non-profit organization. Produce documentary videos on climate solutions. While building a portfolio, students gain a deeper appreciation for media history, ethics, and learn their rights to publish, protest, and photograph. Our journalism program prepares students to work professionally in media and public relations or to start their own business. We prepare our students for graduate school and law school. Our graduates work hard to make the world a better place. We are the creators of student media at Cal Poly Humboldt. We welcome you here. Very welcoming program that prepares you for media and public relations profession."
