"EDIT AGAIN: I'm just going to leave this at this point but I've continued to try calling the phone number they replied with at different times and no one has ever picked up. I requested on MyChart that they send me a way to leave a formal complaint, and they ignored my message and told me that they would be resending me a bill haha EDIT: Tried calling the number in the response a few times during working hours. No one picked up and always went to voicemail, not surprising at this point. I also looked up Ascension on the BBB and they appear to have a 1.02/5 stars and F rating as far as customer reviews, with many similar concerns regarding their inability/refusal to submit insurance claims. Will never be using Ascension again and have now also filed a formal complaint about how my situation was handled. So, my actual visit was not notable and Kufahl is a good doctor, but I had such an awful experience with your customer service regarding billing that I'm not sure that I would ever return. I gave my (new) insurance card when I arrived to the appointment, answered all associated questions, etc. I then received a bill for the full cost of the appointment with no insurance applied. I messaged customer service regarding the bill, the person who I messaged to seemed unable to understand the situation fully, and eventually told me the insurance wasn't going through as they continued to send me emails that I had the full balance due immediately. I called your office directly, and gave them my insurance information again, and was told that it had been denied/didn't exist. I then gave my insurance's phone number as the woman told me she would call them to look into the situation, and she did absolutely zero follow-up and presumably never contacted them. I continued to message your office on MyChart, at which point I gave my information again and customer service claimed to have submitted it and said it would go through in 30-60 days. No follow-up occurred. I finally contacted you again a couple weeks later, and you told me the insurance didn't exist and the claim was not longer going through (although you never followed up to tell me that until I reached out for another time). There was also an implication that it was my fault/I was providing bad insurance information. Finally, I called my insurance directly, who told me that they had zero evidence in my file that your office ever attempted to submit a claim with them. She told me she would call you (which she actually did, an experience that I never had with any of the many of your customer service representatives) and within 10 minutes she resolved the situation fully, having found out that apparently your office had been submitting my old insurance information every single time despite the numerous times I reached out and numerous people I provided my updated insurance with. My bill was corrected after this situation that has been drawn out about a month. This has honestly been an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience that took significantly longer than it should have to be resolved, and I want to warn others that if you ever have a change in insurance you may need to contact your insurance directly for any claims, as trying to have this office file insurance claims for your appointment does not seem to work as they will simply send you a full bill and refuse to file the claim themself."
