"Dr shea is very kind and understanding, this is the first time I’ve met him and I’m glad that I did. He actually sat down with me and listened to what I’d been through and about my past health issues. He’s also the first dr I’ve come across in awhile that Actually wants to do something helpful for me I look forward to my upcoming procedure snd future visits with him and I’d for certain recommend him as a dr to anyone who’s going through or having health issues."
"I attended an appointment with Dr. Shea on December 27 to confirm a PCOS diagnosis from several years ago. I will not ever be returning to him. His nurse was very friendly and welcoming. She took my vitals and asked why I was there, listened intently, and then let me know the doctor would be right in. Again, I was there to confirm a previous diagnosis of PCOS, a hormonal condition. I had some bloodwork tests done so my GP threw in some other tests that could reveal more about my condition. All of my health numbers came back EXCELLENT. Low cholesterol, healthy blood pressure, glucose levels completely normal. All numbers indicated a very very healthy person. All numbers, except my weight, which is what Dr. Shea chose to focus on. We went through the symptoms that confirmed my PCOS and I was told there aren't actually any tests for PCOS (a fact that contradicted my GP and all the research I have done on my own around this condition). I was then told that there are two treatments: birth control (which I already take) and weight loss. Dr. Shea reminded me that I'm overweight and should really work on that to help with the excess hair growth that comes with PCOS. And you know, for my overall health. Despite the fact that ALL my numbers showed a healthy individual, weight loss was deemed necessary for my health. Dr. Shea then proceeded to let me know that all it takes is dedication to "good old diet and exercise". If he had bothered to ask anything about my lifestyle he would have learned that I do eat a balanced diet and exercise 3-4 times a week. He also would have learned that I suffered from disordered eating in high school, and his emphasis on my weight and weight loss was extremely triggering. He didn't care to know anything about me. He didn't even bother to bring my chart into the appointment. I believe as soon as he saw my weight, his mind was made up as to how this appointment would go. This was the laziest, least personal, and most presumptuous appointment I have ever had. Hopefully Dr. Shea learns to talk to his patients to learn who they are as people, rather than treating them as a number on the scale."
