Reviews
"People in the Cashiers office were very rude to me on multiple occasions for no reason. Copping attitudes when i was just asking for help. i need to find out there names because there is no reason people like that should be working with people. it says a lot about their employers ie (Palomar College)"
"Not a safe space for muslim students. Palomar definitely caters to specific crowds. They have a department for police training in campus so that should tell you enough. As a lot of the other reviews have stated-their counselors give as minimal help as possible and a lot of them are rude. LRC staff and some profs from the science department are the most helpful (I recommend Nina and Figg for science classes you may need to take). Enrollment services also doesn’t provide much help to students coming from high schools. A lot of their professors also aren’t capable of educating while engaging with students— I’ve had at least 2 lab professors out of 4 that just makes us write labs on a notebook and expects us to know what to do in lab without properly explaining, then goes to sit and be on their laptops while students are struggling. Overall wouldn’t recommend, my peers have told me better experiences going to MiraCosta, Miramar and San Diego City College."
"Palomar’s website sucks for counseling services. I urgently need a counselor for educational planning and making a few changes so I went on the website to book an appointment. But no matter what options you put in, the website will automatically tell you that there are no meetings available and to call instead. That would be so easy if they actually picked up faster. Every time I call the school’s counseling department they take 30-60 minutes to answer because there are other people. Maybe palomar doesn’t have enough employees because they always seem to be extremely busy. But I am also busy. I go to school every day, all day. I can’t be waiting on the phone for an hour just to schedule an appointment. Please fix your website or allow emails to be sent to the counseling department about scheduling. I haven’t been able to meet with a counselor and I really need to. I might just have to go to the campus unfortunately."
"My initial experience began when entering the student parking lot, which subsequently made me fifteen minutes late for orientation. The little time I was on campus, you can see the development of new buildings which are a stark contrast to the older structures. Parking is metered or requires a permit. People I interacted with were friendly, lots of financial-aid programs available."
