"A couple of months ago, I went to rent a Cessna 172 and was assigned to fly with Rich Payne. Unfortunately, my interaction with him was highly unprofessional and unpleasant. I feel compelled to share my experience here in order to caution other prospective renters. During the pre-flight briefing, instead of discussing important flight details, Mr. Payne predominantly focused on recounting his time in the Air Force. Once we were in the air, he instructed me to fly on a north heading, but when I followed his instructions, he became agitated and claimed I wasn't heading north. I pointed to the Heading Indicator to show him my course, but instead of acknowledging his mistake, he insisted that he meant true north. Upon landing, he interrupted the taxi back to parking to debrief certain aspects of the flight, which I have never encountered before. I suspect that he was intentionally prolonging the time to maximize his payment. Furthermore, he continuously boasted about the professionalism of the flight school and himself, to the extent that it seemed like he was trying to convince himself rather than me."
