Northline Apartments

"I wish I could give 0 stars. As others have mentioned the units are indeed newer/more modern and look good, but it ends there. For year 1 I didn't mind their hands-off approach, but when you actually need something it's not awesome (office staff, maintenance is great and do what they can). We are a third of the way through our second year (lease) and we cannot wait to get out of here. Right after signing our second lease we started having issues with stolen packages (wasn't a problem year 1). This has happened many times so it was not just a "mistake" or delivered to the wrong place. Multiple of the deliveries had pictures showing they were delivered to the right place by our unit, but the package was gone when we went to get it. We asked management if they could review their cameras and they were not helpful. I asked if I could post up a stick-up battery cam just in the one spot to watch packages and they said no. They were no help whatsoever and we now have to have things delivered to a drop-box location (ie-amazon) or make sure we watch tracking like a hawk to catch the driver so they don't go missing. Then this year we started having issues with carpenter ants in our bottom floor unit. Maintenance has been here 2 times so far to patch up the massive holes inside the registers throughout the unit, but we continue to have them make it in through other openings. This also was not a problem last year until after we signed our lease. We did have 1 issue last year and again this year that we were okay with which was too much condensation causing mold around the windows and baseboards. We were told it was too humid last year so we bough a mini de-humidifier for the windowsill and a large unit for the entire unit. Running both units has not been enough to keep the condensation down around the window and we now have mold again. Opening a new ticket to have them look at the insulation around these seals as something doesn't seem right. Because we have had such a bad taste in our mouth with our recent issues in year 2 we asked if we could break the lease for a reason fee (we were still 11 days prior to lease start when we asked - they had us sign 60 days ahead) and were greeted with an offer to pay three months of the lease plus our time to vacate (even though we hadn't even started the lease period). We have legitimate concerns with theft and unit issues which is super frustrating. I cannot wait to get out of this unit next year and I will not be renting from Midwest Expansion in the future as they typically just try to blame the resident or are straight up completely unhelpful."

"We have each lived in a Northline apartment and now have moved into one together. The whole staff has been amazing. Sarah in leasing is an absolute sweetheart. Very friendly and easy to work with. The apartment manager Sam has been fantastic, responding to our questions and requests in a friendly and timely way. George in maintenance can fix anything and does it with a smile on his face. Michelle, the head of construction, helped customized our apartment to meet our needs. Johnnie, the head of landscaping, has given us a beautiful view to look at. Why would you want to own a home when you can live in a beautiful place like this without the hassle? We were on a waiting list to get in and it was well worth the wait. The interior finishes are equal to what you would find in a custom built home. You feel at home the moment you step into the apartment.
