"Avoid This Apartment at All Costs! The rent has rocketed within 2 years, from ~$700 now increase to more than $1000 for a 1 bedroom apartment. As this apartment has a good location with an "affordable" price and is close to the bus lines, they have a long waiting list so they don't need to worry about anyone applying and renting the apartment. The property manager, Brooke, is rude and unprofessional, and he is not helpful at all. He treats you like you are the problem if you find any problems with your apartment. It is not our fault to find him to do something to make this apartment better or solve problems. I would not suggest anyone to move in here if you want to have a happy life, including moving in and living here. You probably don't feel comfortable as you may find fellow tenant or outsider makes you feel unsafe. Other reviews talked more about the move-out problems so I would not spend words writing about move-out. Here, I want to tell everyone that moving in is also not easy. You can find they have tried to clean the apartment. If you are a clean person, it is far behind clean. Not suitable for sensitive groups or with special needs. The maintenance staff is responsive. But he may have forgotten to help you fix something even if he made an appointment with you. He won't show up. When I called Brooke, he told me that he didn't manage the maintenance staff, and that it wasn't his fault that they didn't show up. I would say that this apartment complex is a complete disaster. It is not worth the high rent or the risk of living in an unsafe environment. I would strongly advise anyone considering living here to look elsewhere."

"Beware when you look into this apartment. We have lived here for almost 5 years and the moving out process is extremely stressful and horrible. The manager quoted us more than $700 to remove some items, which the owner of the place later said it would only take $100 dollars. This gave me the impression that they do not want to give you your security deposit back. Our lease ends on June 15th but the manager outrageously rented the apartment out to a new tenant for them to move in on the same day. He then told us to have to remove our things by June 7th since he already scheduled to have the carpet replaced then. This means they have entered our apartment without our permission and scheduled things to be done on the apartment while we were still paying for it. Not to mention, since we were moving out, they ignored our request to have a new AC installed, leaving us without an AC unit for a month. Not to mention, the laundry facility is down most the time. Great location but bad business. Look elsewhere if you are finding a place to live in Madison."

"I had such a good experience at Hilldale Towers and am sad to leave. I never hear my neighbors, elevators work great, enough parking, maintenance is always prompt, halls are cleaned regularly, and the park is so lovely. Management (Brooke) is always fair, kind, and communicative. I'm so impressed by how well he works with us tenants. To top it off I found a great community that was always welcoming to hang out at the pool, grill, or watch movies outside. I will miss living here!"
