"We took our 5-year-old son to visit the Alpacas at Windy Hill farm during Ventura County Farm day in November. Fifteen Ventura County farms in total were open to the public that day. We later learned that there were 150 visitors in the first 40 minutes Windy Hill was open, which was 10 AM. Luckily, we went later that afternoon. Windy Hill has many large enclosed pens in which various sized groups of alpacas freely roam. We discovered that Windy Hill doesn't own all the alpacas. Their farm, but many private individuals do. These owners likely live in areas not zoned for raising farm animals. Many of these owners were at the farm on the day we visited, and answered questions and took photos with the visitors. The alpacas' coat is highly sought after for its high quality, silkiness and softness. The Alpacas are sheered similarly to sheep, and their wool is spun into yarn to make many apparel items. Some of the alpacas looked like manicured poodles, with their coats gleaming, trimmed and fluffed. They even had the tuft of fur on their head teased, rounded and trimmed; the same with their tail. Most other alpacas looked like they would in the wild, or as if they were the red-headed stepchild of the family (no shampoo, trim or pedicure for you!). There were also local artists, jewelers and entrepreneurs on hand peddling their wares. We bought a wind chime made out of the top half of a wine bottle. It has a beautiful, rich tone. I highly recommend a visit to Alpacas at Windy Hill for your family, as it's a great learning and bonding experience."

"Love this place. We come on occasion during second Saturday of the month too pet the alpacas boarded here. The ranch staff is very friendly and they enjoy teaching people about alpacas. Luke the guard dog is also nice when he's not working."
"Very helpful in helping me find and pick out the best match for our farm. We haven't got her yet but when we buy you can be sure it will be from Cindy."
