"One of the worst place to live. Do not trust these people and this management !! At time of lease the apartment at "4455 n oakland ave shorewood", we said they we want 9 months lease and they told us that we can sign for 1 year and can move out at 9month but need to give 2 months notice ahead. But after we move out they collect our deposit and asked for rest of rent. We were not happy to pay but eventually payed them. They also asked for late fee and we did not agree!! Then they send collection agency after us to collect $360 late Fee!! Also property management is very poor."

"Oakland Manor; Leaving here after a year, love my unit, pricing, etc. Honestly the building gives me the creeps and especially the maintenance team that comes in and out of this building. I understand they have jobs to fulfill & its appreciated but I have my doubts about a few of them in particular. I have tried my best to deal with it & not let it get to me but my gut feeling is screaming at me to get out of here. I for sure do not feel comfortable and safe in my own home. Hopefully Blankstein will find more trustworthy people to take care of their properties & residents."

"I would have given a zero if I could. Do not trust this management. Incredibly unprofessional and unorganized. I had a couple showings of the apartment units in 4333 N Oakland building. I was clear with the building manager, Linda, I was interested in one unit over the other. She suggested I turn in my application asap since there was another interested tenant the same day I saw my showing and possibly turning in their application as well. So I filled out and signed all the paper work turned it all in the following day, gave a $1,050 security deposit check to keep the unit secured under my name in case they needed any other documents. Which of course they ended up needing more documents from my co-signer and approved ESA dog. Linda said I had priority since I turned in my application first, so I was under the impression the unit was safe under my name until either my application was denied or I decided to look elsewhere. Within 2 days, I turned in all the necessary documents that was required, and then they made up more obstacles for me to turn in more documents. Which I was still willing to finish, since I was interested in the unit. Long story short, no communication was shared with me. They gave the unit I was interested in to someone else without letting me know until I asked, and didn't mention to give me back my deposit until I brought it up. I would highly not recommend you trusting or applying to be apart of this poorly managed management."

"I lived at Oakland Manor Apartments for the past 3 years where I had paid my rent on time each and every month. I am moving out due to a relocation for my job and I needed to be out a month early. I was advised to have someone come in and either take over my lease or sublet my apartment for the month of June. I even offered to show my own apartment in order to help rent it quicker. This request was denied to do recent issues in the building that were out of my control. In the past, I personally know someone who they let out of their lease under the same circumstances. I've tried contacting the main office for weeks now, and they are avoiding my calls.On top of that, I found out that the building is INFESTED with BEDBUGS from several of my neighbors. Blankstein Enterprises does not value their tenants and are just out to make money. I would not recommend renting from them."
