"I reached out to Leland Law about filing a disability claim for my mother. Leland Law was the 3rd firm I'd reached out to. At other firms it felt like a processing line, they just wanted your info in order to move the claim forward and were not helpful in explaining the process fully. I also was worried about working with a firm that could not communicate with my mom in her native language, Spanish. At Leland, I was connected with Sonia who became my primary point of contact alongside the attorney Enrique. I know that the disability claims process is really hard. It's more likely that you'll be denied and there are several hurdles to jump through. Leland prepared me and my mom for the long road ahead. Her claim took almost 3 years and involved denials, appeals, two medical evaluations before finally getting to a hearing with a judge. Over those 3 years, I would communicate with Leland to share any letters my mother received from Social Security (they also received copies of every communication from Social Security). They also advised us on what information we needed to submit at various different stages. They also took care of gathering medical records from my mom's various doctors. And they were most essential in the lead up to the hearing with the judge. The attorney, Enrique, took the time to prepare us on what to expect and answered all of our questions. He also took the time to really try to understand her disability claim. My mom has an auto immune disorder that is less common, so he asked my mom a lot of questions to try and understand her disease better. He was honest about the potential outcomes, and set our expectations appropriately. I appreciated his candor as we prepped for the hearing because we did not feel surprised by anything that happened. During the hearing he did a great job representing my mother's claim. I have absolutely no doubt, that my mom and I would not have gotten to this stage in the process without Leland's help. My mom's claim was approved, but even if it hadn't it wouldn't have been as a result of her legal representation. I'd also advise that the process is long and so there are times when there is not much your attorney can do until you see the claims process through. It's a frustrating process, one that has more to do with how the Social Security Administration manages disability claims, and less about the efficacy of your claim.
