"Both our boys learned to swim with Nancy. We had been to classes at many places. Nancy's technique was awesome. She really get's how to help kids build the basics that lead to swimming. She is a really gifted teacher. If you want your kid to swim, do it. She was a little expensive compared to others but we wasted 3x as much on ineffective lessons. And for the parent who says she pushed your kids too far, I watch Nancy manage scared kids and she was perfect. Yes, swimming can be scary, but if you affirm the fear it will get worse. She creates an opportunity for kids to learn what they need to know to swim and be safe."
"There is no need to abuse children in order to teach them how to swim. Nancy forces the child in the water even while theyre crying and encourages parents to do the same..she pushes them past there comfort zones and pushes them into and under the water she said "you have to force them" you cant force someone to do anything.. it needs to be the childs choice.. forcing them in such a way makes the child AFRAID of the water and inturn makes them never want to go in the water. My child was so excited and eager to learn to swim and everything was fine until nancy. Now shes afraid at her other swim classes where the abuse doesnt take place. i honestly think the way nancy forces the scared babies toddlers and children into the water can dramatically negatively effect these individuals for the rest of there lives when it comes to there relationship with there parents teachers and the water itself...similarly to when you throw a dog into the water and they become afraid for life. even when it comes to having the child sit and watch nancy throw a crying BABY into the water head first... these children scream in TERROR and i kid you not.. i for one am appalled that nancy cant think of a way around forcing a distraught child under the water over and over again.. or how she doesnt take the time to be considerate and care for the children she teaches... she rushes and forget things.... shes not equipt for the job as it stands now."
"Nancy’s is the best and I regret waiting so long to try her swim lessons. I listened to one of the reviews about Nancy’s lesson is not being for the faint of heart, I my older daughter is an anxious child and I have my own childhood trauma around swim lessons. But after five years of unsuccessful YMCA and JCC swim lessons we tried Nancy out on my brave little 2 year old. She loved it, so then we brought my 6 year old. Mermaid Nancy not only got my daughters to learn to swim, she got them to love to swim. She has a small pool in her backyard that she keeps very warm. You get in the pool with your kiddo and the other families and go through a set of songs that are paired with different swimming skills. The songs don’t change from week to week, but she scaffolds the skills to the appropriate level for your child. Just about every song has some kind of getting your face wet component (I’ve noticed other swim instructors gloss over this and that is where I think kids get stuck). Once kids accept that they are going to get their face wet and it is no big deal, they love swimming and aren’t afraid to try new skills. There can be some tears the first lesson, but DO go back for the second lesson. After the second lesson my older daughter was swimming across the pool and was so proud of herself. My daughters are always begging me to go back to Nancy’s even when we were on vacation. I can’t recommend Nancy’s swim lessons enough. She is sensitive to the needs of children and is passionate about water safety. Learning to swim can save your child’s life and Nancy can teach your child to swim."
"Google wants me to pay to update and then they will give me a better review . I don’t k ow where to report this but that is unfair!!!! I have so many people that say my classes are magical and their kids went from not liking the water to loving it in 4 lessons My pool is warm 93 degrees and covered. I do not advertise but have many people that recommend my lessons. I have people bringing their grandkids now after teaching their children. I have been teaching since 1969"
"My two girls learned to swim in Nacy's pool... now one is competing Div 1 college (West Point '21) and the other swimming/water polo at Marin Catholic '21. Nancy helped my girls get started - she is GREAT!!"
