"My parents took our childhood dog to OVC and they were amazing right up until he crossed the rainbow bridge in 2020. About a year ago I got my first dog of my own and I chose to use OVC for him as well. I cannot say enough good things about this vet clinic as a first time dog owner, they have happily answered every question and usually before I’ve had a chance to even ask it. At my first appointment, Dr. Orvick took the time to get a feel for my lifestyle and recommended certain vaccines and preventatives based on that. I have seen a handful of doctors since then and each of them has stopped to ask me how my dog is doing overall, how training is going, any non-medical concerns and etc. They are also always very open to talk about costs of potential treatments and I never feel like they’re doing unnecessary procedures just to charge me. I have so much confidence in their care and taking my boy to OVC has truly helped me be a better dog owner. I can’t recommend them enough and I am so grateful for all their help."
"Brought my family’s dog here (Sathi) for rabies exams with three different vets (DVMs). The doctors were very knowledgeable and helpful. The patient care is coordinated. There was no complex procedure done, just observation for signs of limping and excess salivation."
"I used to bring my dogs and cats when it was a small business with dr Peterson and the other vets. My brother recommended them to me and my mom and she took her dogs there until she died. I tried to make an appointment to take my cat in and the receptionist who is a man was snotty and very nasty with me and said they don’t take any new clients. I wasn’t a new client and he hung up on me. Is that a good way to treat a customer I don’t think so. what a shame used to be such a wonderful place."
"***Update: Our 13 year old cat, Spot is still going strong!!! Thanks, OVC!!! We've just laid our third dog in 20+ years to rest here at this Veterinary clinic...Jersey, Dakota, and now Thunder. Anyone who has been through this understands the pain associated with losing a beloved canine member of the family as well as the importance of working with veterinary staff who are kind and sensitive. OVC goes above and beyond for their human and furry clients at all stages of their lives. We have put our trust in this facility with all of our cats and dogs and will continue to do so as long as we live in Dane County. ***Nobody who loves their pets wants to think about the end of their lives, but all pet owners know that the time comes for all of us. Years ago, when it came time for Jersey and Dakota, my kids were young, and I went by myself. Care, time, and discretion were given by staff for me to say my final farewell to my beloved companions. *****This time around, two of my kids (14 and 23) were home and wanted to come along to say their last goodbyes (our other kid regretfully could not return as she is off at college) to Thunder. They took us to a back room that was big enough for the four of us to say farewell to our old dog. It was complete with sofas and a soft blanket for Thunder, who was having trouble standing. While we had already treated our old boy with bacon, chicken, and a piece of cheeseburger earlier in the day in reluctant anticipation of his final moments...the Vet staff gave us some more Pro-plan treats to give him before the sedation was administered. Obviously this experience was hard on us, it was hard on the kids, and most certainly on our dogs (Skye and Ara didn't know where their buddy went)...but OVC made it as pain-free as possible and I can't say enough about the professionalism, kindness, and understanding that seems so rare these days in other businesses where so much less is hoped for and expected. They are really the best that a family could hope for in terms of the care administered to their pets from puppies and kittens and through all stages of their adult dog and cat lives. *******Goodbye Thunder!!! We love you old man"
"I do not trust my animals anywhere else. They take their time, do it right, and explain options in simple terms. Most places say what is to be done their way, this place takes time to explain all the options, not just the one they recommend. They are the best in my opinion. 6/15/22 still the best. 7/5/22 saved my little one from the brink of death yet again. Miracle workers, much better than miracle max and we still storm the castle. 8/20/22 little guy is still doing good. They earned my trust."
