"In an increasingly digital world, Magic Years stays true to the childhood I remember having: one with imagination, nature, adventure, pretend play and getting some paint on your clothes or dirt under your nails. As such, my children have been given the incredible gift of learning through play, fostering an excitement for education and practicing social skills that will serve them for the rest of their life. We are proud to be a Magic Years family and can only hope to see our grandchildren there one day."
"Magic Years is truly a magical place. My son, my eldest, just graduated the Pre-K program. My daughter, my middle one, is entering her 2nd year. My baby is already on the waiting list for 2021. My children reaped the benefits of the gradual separation and really needed the extra time. They feel safe at Magic Years and absolutely love learning and going to school. My daughter literally skips and jumps for joy on school days. My son was more reserved when he started and now he is confident, makes friends easily and loves asking questions and learning. His teacher actually came up to me and told me that my son has blossomed so much and is a true leader and she is confident he will do well in life. I feel that my son is prepared for Kindergarten, even though Magic Years isn't academic, they do teach through play and I believe it is far more effective for this age group. The skills that children learn in preschool is truly so critical in their development and having skilled educators that know what they are doing, know how to talk to children, and even meet with us parents and work collectively when issues arise makes parenting a little bit easier. They are advocates for the children and help us look at the world through our child's eyes which truly helps in our approach and having a positive outcome for both parent and child. I have searched high and low for the best pre-school in the valley and hands down Magic Years is the one for our family. The Big Back Yard is a dream for preschoolers. Everyday in class they put out different activities, different toys, a sensory table, art etc. They love singing, cooking, pretend play, dress up, stories and everything Magic Years has to offer. We only wish the hours were longer but its worth it in my option - quality versus quantity. Magic Years feels like home to us and we are grateful to Magic Years for being so good to our children."
"The suggestion that the school caters to the wealthy and celebrities is simply ridiculous. We are now in our third year at Magic Years so have come to know at least 30 different families and we have yet to meet a single celebrity. We've met lawyers, dentists, dance instructors, pilots, tutors, assistants, business executives, etc. The families run the gamut and are a very good representative of the population of Los Angeles. Families from any walk of life will fit in very well at this school. Also, the tuition is amongst the most reasonable in the entire city, they never, ever ask you for donations, etc., and they do a TON of extra things for the kids (like bring in singers, dancers, do a snow day, set up a carnival, etc.) and NEVER ask for a single extra dollar from any of the parents. So why would they care if there were wealthy families attending? We have so far had a fantastic experience attending Magic Years. I love their separation policy and how they don't make the parents leave children who are wailing and calling for their parents. I love that the kids don't have to be potty trained. Their philosophy is basically "each child in his own time." I love that the kids are exposed to so many different experiences, cultures, etc. I love all the extra stuff they do for the kids without charge. I also love that the school is run by two very highly educated women who could be in high paying, high powered jobs but chose to do this for a living and not charge much for it, all for the love of the children. I cannot imagine a better place for my son during his most formative years than Magic Years."
"My third child has just graduated from the Pre-K program at Magic Years and it is very sad to leave the school. Through the years I have been a part of Magic Years, I have always had positive experiences. The teachers have been there for years and even decades. The directors and staff are very down to earth, friendly and approachable. They focus on teaching the children to be great citizens and teach the children real life skills. The children learn to sit and stay seated, bake, cook, play well with others, manners, sing and so much more. The staff at Magic Years work to help the children do things on their own and help when necessary. They do not baby the children, but guide the children through the task. The school policy is to have the parent stay at the school until the child is ready to be separated from the parent. There is no traumatizing the child as the parent is told to leave. This gradual separation is so important to me. Also, they do not require the child to be potty trained. I love this philosophy of waiting for the child to be ready. If you are looking for a school that your child will love and not want to leave, this is the school you should find out more about."
