"Recently, I responded an AD showing $18-$27/HR on Zip-recruiter for a shipping coordinator position at Weida Freight. After having a satisfactory interview, including wages $27/HR, Weida’s recruit agent made an arrangement for another interview with the company’s owner Victor Wei. By end of the interview with Victor, he asked me what wages I expected to get for this job. I told him $27/HR. He looked very shocked and said: “I do not know if I can pay you this amount because WE DO NOT HAVE A BUDGET FOR $27/HR. I have to ask our HR to see if $27/HR is OK.” To me, that is ridiculous: 1) the company’s ad shows $18-$27/HR for this position; 2) he is the owner of this company (less than 10 people working at this location). He does not know how much he pays this position. 3) his agent had sent him the info what I was asking for: $27/HR. He went out for HR, it took about 10 minutes in a small office for him to come back with a lady named Alina Li. In front of me, Victor told Alina: “he wants $27/HR for this position!” With a shocked face, Alina said: “that is too high! We do not have that budget!” Victor then asked how about $26. Alina said: “$26/HR is still too high!” Now you may ask why you didn’t tell them about its AD that shows $18~$27/HR. The reason I did not tell them is that the owner took me or all job seekers as a fool. I wanted to pretend to be a fool, because I wanted to see what kind of the game they want to play and how to play it. On Weida’s website, it shows the company’s philosophy; one of elements is HONESTY. What is HONESTY? Merriam-Webster dictionary definition shows: fairness and straightforwardness of conduct. Do you think their conduct is HONESTY? After interview, I called the agent immediately to confirm the pay she emailed to Victor. She said she email Victor $27/HR. If Victor did not have the budget of $27/HR, he should have cancelled this interview. The company puts good word “HONESTY” on its website and good pay on its advertising; and does things that contradict to its Philosophy. These people should have respected “HONESTY” the word they use on its website."
