Reviews
"The Team at Luft are awesome. I have become a much more comfortable cyclist in LA due to Luft's road and gravel rides. I actually probably wouldn't even be riding gravel in LA if it weren't for Luft. Cody, Max and West generously would switch over my tires back and forth from road to gravel. I trust Cody's word with purchases tremendously. They host nice community events and a good way to meet people that I now ride with regularly and likely would not have met in the first place if wasn't for Luft's community."
"I’m super bummed to write this review because I was genuinely really excited to visit Luft when in LA, and it was the first shop I visited when staying in Venice last week. One would hope that when two people, both strong cyclists, with an interest in smaller, more specialty companies in the cycling industry, enter your shop - you would expect at least one of the staff members to say hello or even acknowledge your existence. Nope. I said hello, looked around the shop for probably 5-10 minutes, said goodbye and thanked the staff when leaving despite not being spoken to once, and nothing I said or did was even remotely acknowledged. I frankly found it embarrassing. The selection of gear, quality of builds and simplicity of the shop are all conducive to Luft being an excellent space. As someone who already owns lots of MAAP & PNS, if you value the hype brands of cycling industry, this is a great shop for you. I simply cannot recommend as the service level was so poor. Maybe shopping online is better. Maybe if you’re their homie they hook it up. I don’t know, and I won’t find out. I am however a service professional, and genuinely don’t care how cool you cats think you are. It’s not cool to have garbage service, ever. It’s pretty much your job(s) to be kind and interact with customers. If the impression you leave your customers with is that you don’t care that they are in your building, they will go elsewhere, trust. As a result - I won’t return to Luft again and will buy my 10k Titanium frameset somewhere that the staff say hello to me when I walk in. As if the bar is that low. Edit: Due to the owners reply and them seeming to show genuine concern for how our experience was, i've changed the rating and will give Luft another shot the next time i'm in LA. I understand how challenging it is to run a business. Hopefully i'll be able to have a difference experience next time around."
"I will weigh in as a few others have: WHAT A NICE SHOP… In particular, I recently crashed on my Checkpoint SL7 and broke my carbon bars (so much for “stronger” than steal!). So, time to upgrade the stock isocore pro bar. I had been thinking of getting a flat top bar since I ride more tarmac than gravel. Also thinkin about narrowing the 42s to 40 or 38…but I wasn’t sure on how id feel about goin that narrow. I also just NEED TO RIDE…i thought maybe I could “find” a drop bar to just get back on the road. You know….while I was deciding what bar and then the time to order one. I started on the boardwalk, goin to EVERY bike rental shop there was. I went to them ALL…nada. WT? So…I thought “these RVs I see round usually have bike parts…I stopped at 6 of them…nada. WT?? Ok…I started down Lincoln, couple shops, another 3 RVs…NOPE… And then I stopped here…. I walked in, explained my story, n Max/this shop, “GAVE ME A BAR TO USE UNTIL I GET NEW ONE…”. JUST LIKE THAT. NO PROBLEM… Let me ask you, when was the last time a shop of any kind GAVE YOU something to “use.” It is a FSA bar about $100. I wasn’t buying the bar through them or anything. MAX - and I think he was the bike engineer there. Kind of puts a little faith back in me for the fate of the human species … a little dramatic, but you get the point. If that’s not cool enough, the bar is a 38! Yes! I can now test this size for the bar I’m going to buy. I solved TWO problems at ONE time. Because of THIS STORE….as well as seeing something I hadn’t seen for a long time. Simple GOOD customer service WHERE the customer came first… The store trusted a stranger, that walked in randomly off the street. Wow. After all the stores I had just stopped at for help…THIS BIKE SHOP…. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BIKE SHOP. THEY DON’T KNOW IT BUT THEY’RE GOING TO GET MY BUSINESS AND I USUALLY HAVE A LOT OF IT. To the owner of the store, You have some good people working there. And everyone else… GO HERE."
"Luft is a great shop for road and gravel cyclists. I rented one of their Blackheart bikes and is was a killer gravel bike that performed beautifully on the road. Even better, I was able to get one of the employees of Luft, whose name is West, take me on a killer ride. West grew up in Venice beach and was like a historian of the Venice and Santa Monica communities and had lots of cool stories and information to share with me as we road through those two neighbourhoods. Then, he took me up into the Santa Monica mountains for some gravel that was absolutely beautiful. West was an awesome guide and it was an amazing way to spend a day! Thanks Luft!"
