Southport Elementary School

"I was a substitute for a custodian at this site. The custodians who were permanent at this site were caught having sex. At the school. During school hours. They didn't fire them, just switched them to different schools.I doubt they sent a letter home to parents. Also, the principal had me doing things like cleaning up their staff room-refrigerator, microwave, etc. Custodians are there to clean up after the kids not gross adults whose homes I would hate to see. I spent several hours cleaning a STAFF work area. As an employee using the custodial job as a stepping stone, looking into the world of a custodian, the staff at this site treated me like I was nothing. I wouldn't want my child going to school at this site because when they find out bad things are happening, they cover it up, and look down on people around them for not having a great job or not speaking english well. I teach my daughter to accept all people and treat all people well. Not just the ones I personally feel are worthy. I no longer work for Washington Unified, and will be making more money than those teachers even dreamed of real soon here. So, I guess thanks for showing me what kind of people are out there, and what kind of person I want to be."

"My little brother attends this school. And since nobody is going to come out and say it, I will: THE FACT THAT THEY CUT SCHOOL BUSES IS RIDICULOUS. My little brother has to cover 5 miles on foot and public transit with complete strangers each and every school day. This needs to be fixed because this school should be responsible for the safe return of these kids, not the parents. It's hard enough to get your kids to school and get to work each day and sometimes impossible without a vehicle. Budget should NOT be to blame for this issue because the high school across the street has more than enough buses, enough staff, AND a multi-million dollar campus. But it's too much for an elementary school to have 3-4 buses to get the kids home safely? I don't think so."
