"We have two kids in Maria Montessori School here in San Diego for the past two years. While we have always been with a Montessori school, at MMS we noticed that our girls are thriving, filled with love for learning. The kids at MMS not just strive to do better but also help their peers as well embodying the true spirit of Montessori learning. Kudos to the teachers and staff of MMS. Every kid is unique and will have his/her strength and weaknesses. Here at Maria Montessori school, the teachers take the additional step to work with children in a social group but also individually. This enables the kids to work at their own pace without the stress of grading and tests purely for the love of learning. We as parents have been very happy with academic, and social development of our kids here at MMS. But the biggest recognition I can bestow upon the school is that my kids do not want to miss even one day of school lest they miss out on anything!!"

"Caged63Man: The representatives of the Maria Montessori are deeply troubled by your post. First and foremost, we are disturbed and frightened by your suggestion that there should be a violent response. Your comment that the school “should be burned to the ground” is not taken lightly, especially in light of the proliferation of school related violence. We have contacted the San Diego Police Department regarding your post. Please understand that we will do everything in our power to protect our children. As to the substance of your allegations, you are misinformed on multiple levels. First, the Native American teaching materials did not present a monolithic version of all First Nation peoples; instead, the unit presented the various differences in food, shelter, and culture of various nations. When objections were raised, the unit was tailored as requested. Various attempts to meet with the parent so that she could participate in the following year’s presentation were unsuccessful. The following year the material was all but deleted in its entirety and the Thanksgiving Event itself was discontinued. Nevertheless, this parent continued to disparage the school and its staff wherever possible. Her constant disparagement was conspicuously timed to coincide with demands that her child be placed on a full scholarship at the school. Before posting any further, please educate yourself as to the facts. Please take further note that any further mention of violence against the school or its staff or students will be immediately forwarded to the San Diego Police Department."
