"This school is the best! My son Russell love's his teachers! And the after school staff is so sweet! We feel so blessed to have found this school it has changed My son's life and mine, because my son love's going to school now! He is even learning Spanish, sewing and dance included in the tuition!"
"our fourth grader has been with FHM for about four years. They are one of the few small year around multi generation classroom montessori programs that your kid can ride through eight grade. parent group is reasonably active and organized - having participated in one of the overnight trips I can convey I liked the approach to learning of the "soft skills" that is often so absent. So far our kid shows year over year improvement on her stanfords and the math program is barely adequate (but then again my standards are higer then most). lots of activities within school that we like - eg after school gymnastics program (whose teacher also ended up dubbing as a swim instructor). are the challenges? yes but no more then any other school. admin staff is helpful. owners often greet kids in the morning - they've been at this for 30+ years. about the only minus is that facilities are a bit dated but that comes with a school that is that old - and they make it up with effort. like any parent looking for your kid's second home - do you research and visit the school - talk to other parents about their experience and know what you are getting yourself into - most of the time the problem is the (incorrect) expectations rather then anything in particular with this school."
"Sounds like the person below with the one star has issues of her own - this school has amazing teachers and really does care about their students, my kids went there for pre-K and Kindergarden and are GOING BACK for summer school after already being in public school because they miss their teachers so much!!"
"Don't have an opinion unless you want your kid to get kicked out. Yes... I was opinionated and my well behaved child was asked to leave with 1 day of notice. If that all on its own doesn't show you how little they care about the kids vs their pride then maybe the laundry list of teaching problems will give you a clue. Giving my 2nd grader "paleontology" as a spelling word over any of the state standard words is not appropriate. Having kids learn all the countries in Africa, but not teach them the states of the country they live in is impractical. Being condescending to the students about what level of work they're performing at and comparing them to other classes and other students doesn't follow the teachings of Montessori. Insisting on a $300 supply fee, but denying children more than 3 crayons is a rip off. And pretending that communication via email is a burden is outdated and environmentally irresponsible. I could give you much MUCH more... But it would take a couple hours, and who has that kind of time to read a review?"
