"Horrible Bank, I miss Bank Of The West - After 20+ years my card keeps getting declined because "I need to answer security questions". I will be going to the main office today to pull my funds and cancel my account. DO NOT BANK WITH BMO!!"
"I have banked at Bank of the West for 23 years, and I really liked them until recently. I used to feel like they cared, always friendly service, good support, etc. But now, since becoming BMO, their customer service sucks and they really don't seem to care much. Plus my account has been hacked a couple of times and their fraud department was very difficult to reach on a weekend. ;-("
"Hector made my experience tedious, awful and uncomfortable. Great product but will be closing my accounts and not recommending this bank to anyone who expects to be treated with basic respect and consideration by your bank. I needed to increase my limit on my debit card to pick up my car from a Collision Center. After talking to customer service, a team leader who both assured me this wouldn’t be a problem I was referred to my local branch. This one. I was told that I must speak to the manager of the branch, after being passed on for my 6th time and spending my second hour or more in the waiting room of the collision center (while also taking time off of work to do this) I was told by another manager in a very dismissive and smug tone that I will need to speak to another manager. At this point I am beyond discouraged. I was told I would be getting a call back from Hector asap. Another 30 minutes goes by nothing, after calling customer service again and going through the exact same process I am told Hector is not available. I am still waiting at the repair shop at this point. Hector finally calls me back after I demanded he do so like promised and immediately tells me they can’t increase my limit, in a very agitated and dismissive tone. You can sense the tension and annoyance because I needed him to get back to me asap. Hector had not one ounce of compassion or tact in this situation nor did he care how long I had been waiting. He didn’t offer any other alternatives other than a cut and dry no. He was more focused on arguing with me that Bank of the West did nothing wrong in this situation even though the lack of communication and professionalism was apparent from the first phone call. He is dealing with people’s livelihoods and money and shouldn’t be rude and dismissive to his customers. Anyone with an ounce of management experience would apologize for the inconvenience but instead he made it seem like I was inconveniencing him for needing help from my own bank. Absolutely pathetic. I hope BMO retrains him or sends him off somewhere else. Not a good look during a merger like this."
"This bank is a joke!! The manager Hector Villarreal is an incompetent and rude person to deal with. I wanted to close my account and he withheld my money for over 4 days! I will NEVER use this bank and I suggest you don’t either!!! They made us very difficult and my experience was awful. They are incompetent and untrustworthy!!! They withheld my money and made bogus charges on my account! I had to report them to the FDIC it was so bad! Mr. Villarreal is a little twerp and he misused his power which affected me accessing My money. Do not bank here!!!!"
"Bank of The West overdraws your account even when you have money in the bank. They also overdraw you when you get charges that you don't recognize in your account. My account is set to not accept transactions when there is no money in my bank account, but they continue to do so. Additionally, I have a personal situation going on with law enforcement and this particular bank in Santa Barbara and San Diego know about it and got invoved when they should just be neutral. This is the reason that they recently wouldn't take care of my overdraft fee knowing that these charges had nothing to do with my activity. Just like Wells Fargo they rob their customers with overdraft fees. They are worst than bank robbers. Don't bank with these guys!!!!"
