Downey United Methodist Preschool

Downey United Methodist Preschool, located at 10801 Downey Avenue in Downey, California, is a nurturing and educational environment for children aged 2 1/2 to 5 years old. Established in 1965, our preschool started with a simple idea of starting each day with love and understanding, which has now grown into four classrooms operating five mornings a week.

Our program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children, providing experiences that enhance their cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, and creative development. We believe that a child's work is play, and through play, children learn how to learn and explore the world around them.

At Downey United Methodist Preschool, we focus on the six C's: Confidence, Competence, Cooperation, Coordination, Consideration, and Compassion. Our goal is to create a stimulating environment that promotes the overall development of each child, both socially and intellectually.

We follow a child-centered approach to learning, with teachers serving as role models and guides. Our experienced staff meets all the necessary training and education requirements for preschool educators. Our philosophy is centered around helping children grow towards self-reliance, positive self-worth, and healthy independence.

As a non-profit outreach program of Downey United Methodist Church, our mission is to evaluate and meet the needs of children in our community. We welcome all children, regardless of background or physical disabilities. We offer flexible scheduling options with 2, 3, and 5-day sessions available.
