Barefoot Atelier -Preschool
About the Business
Barefoot Atelier - Preschool is a unique school located at 1620 South Bundy Drive in Los Angeles, California, United States. Our institution focuses on instilling curiosity, creativity, and Jewish values in young minds. We believe that every child is a competent, curious, and creative individual, and we embrace the Reggio-Emilia approach to education.
At Barefoot Atelier, we foster independence and creativity through seasonal adventures that promote fun and friendship. Our philosophy is rooted in providing a safe and exploratory environment where children feel valued and understood. We incorporate the RIE philosophy, which emphasizes respect for children as competent individuals.
Central to our approach is the role of the Atelierista, a teacher with a background in the arts who collaborates with children and other educators to weave creative thinking and artistic expression into the curriculum. Our Atelier is equipped with a diverse array of materials to encourage children to express themselves in numerous ways and prioritize the creative process.
The Atelier at Barefoot Atelier is more than just an art studio; it's a dynamic, collaborative environment that promotes interaction and cooperation among children. Educators document the work and processes within the Atelier, providing valuable insights into the children's learning journeys and thought processes.
We believe that children are born with a natural curiosity about the world, and we strive to cultivate this curiosity through careful listening and support. "I had my son enrolled here in 2021-2022. It was a difficult time coming out of Covid, but they handled it with absolute grace. The staff was generous, caring, and talented. My son is not Jewish, yet felt at home in the space and made friendships that endured after he left. They have an abundance of resources, pets and plants for kids to care for, cooked lunches, and overall a warm and welcoming space. I highly recommend them."
"We were lucky enough to find Barefoot during my son's pandemic Kindergarten year when elementary schools were shut down. He attended Barefoot's incredibly safe, nurturing, creative, project-based program a few days a week to supplement his online school experience. He got so much out of his experience that we now think about that year as a blessing in disguise. While he wasn't able to attend his "regular" school, his love of learning was nurtured at Barefoot, and his mind was opened up to so many new experiences. He still asks to visit Barefoot to this day. We are so grateful to the teachers there for providing him with such a supportive and imaginative environment!"
