WM - River Falls Transfer Station

"I'm a retired . There are months I dont have any garbage, yet I pay as if I do. I only have pickup every other week. Yet when you drive around you can see alot of bins over flowing. Do they get charge for extra ?"

"I am elderly and disabled and no longer receive the valet service I signed up for because they canceled the service.I have a long driveway and cannot bring my containers to the street. The route manager has been pleasant to work with but my problem has not been solved. I leave the containers near the road and bring my trash down in my car to the containers every week. It works for now but doubt it will once we have heavy snow falls and the snow plows come through and bury everything. Also, I have updated information on line but I never receive a bill from WM, either through email or postal service. If I want to know how much I owe I have to go online to WM’s website and search. It’s annoying."

"Not great not horrible. They don’t have specific times that they come and pick up trash, one week it could be at 8am the next week it won’t be until 3pm, makes it hard if you forget to set out the trash cans the night before. Also their schedule calendar they send you makes no sense, some weeks are highlighted yellow, others are green but it doesn’t say “highlighted color week is recycling” it’s vague and hard to understand. Prices are WILD, they charge for “extra bags” when the bin was just full (top could close still). Drivers are very professional and do their job well. Hard to get someone on the phone, but not surprised as this is a huge company. If you have the ability to pick, go for a smaller more customer oriented company, if this is your only choice just be ready for the big company nonsense. Not bad not great just WM."

"They do a pretty good job at picking up my trash and recycling. I have had a lot of issues with their trucks leaking hydraulic fluid on our street. They have even killed grass in my yard due to the amount of hydraulic fluid that they sprayed in the grass. When I talk to management I'm just told that the trucks are old and it can't be helped."

"I strongly recommend avoiding Waste Management if you can. We contracted them to do our residential garbage and recycling services about 6 months ago. At the time of signing up I was told we were well within their service area, and that they excelled with communication if our normal pick up day was to be moved for any reason. Fast forward 6 months later and they have now have cancelled our service because we are an outlier on their service coverage. They also only gave us 6 days notice to find a new provider. Their service over the last 6 months has been below sub par, and they have given every excuse as to why. We grew accustomed to our garbage cans sitting by the street for days on end because they regularly missed our pick up days, and the communication they promised was non-existent. We were lucky to be notified by the end of our regular service day, or the next day, that our trash wasn’t going to be picked up. I have used Waste Management in the past at a previous house and it was the same lousy service. If you can avoid using them I recommend it, but unfortunately trash collection services are as close to a monopoly as you will see in this country so I know they aren’t completely avoidable. Best part of it all is they were supposed to pick up our cans on 9/25 and you wouldn’t believe this but it’s 9/27 and they are still sitting there. I’m not going to miss dealing with these guys."
