"Not impressed. Very disappointed. $600 helmet and it’s just cheap as can be. The inside of the helmet is a joke. Styrofoam and cheap thin pads. I’m kicking myself for not getting the Ridell Speedflex like I did for my oldest son. This helmet is hard and rigid and uncomfortable. I tried it on. You can feel every little hit. Very little cushion. It’s light weight that’s it. Light and cheaply made."
"I ordered a Light LS2 Youth from a retailer that was unable to fill the order as processed. I called Light with a question about some upgrades and they provided unbelievable service by real employees who looked into my issue and even called back when they said they would. Best football helmet on the market and best customer service in ANY market. Absolute no helmet or company exists right now with this quality and that treats you like your kid is Patrick Mahomes! Needless to say I did and will order directly from them without second thought and would recommend the same. Ive coached this team since 2nd grade and now middle school and our entire team will be using Light going forward with our Riddle neck weights being a thing of the past."
"Exceptional helmet for my son. My son has played with light helmet for 3 seasons now. He can't say enough about the comfort and light-weight profile of his helmet. As a QB, he's taken some punishment but his Light Helmet has been a big help. I'd recommend all kids, especially the Pop Warner, high school freshmen and some JV with underdeveloped neck musculature, seriously consider this helmet. The reduced momentum created by an impact will greatly reduce the stress on the head and neck. Full disclosure, I sit on the board, but even if I wasn't, as a physical therapist that's treated lots of athletes, I'd recommend this helmet to all my football players."
"I was really disappointed with Light Helmets, especially their customer service. Let me explain. My wife purchased a helmet for my son for high school. She got his head sized out with a different brands and purchased (what we thought) was the correct fit. Here are the issues that I had with the company. (1) Overcharged for Shipping. During the order, she selected expedited shipping (by mistake) and checked out. The expedited shipping cost $250. By the time I noticed it, I tried to contact them and never heard back. By the time that I was able to get a hold of them, I was told that it was too late and that no refund would be given. I really surprised that nobody at Light Helmet noticed this - since it took a few weeks to get the helmet. But I was told that it was my responsibility. (2) Cryptic Return Policy. When my son tried on the helmet, it was too big. We tried using some extra padding on the size and it didn't work. Since we didn't have an other options, he used this helmet twice for this conditioning days - as I worked to find another one for him. When I finally got a hold of Light Helmets, they said that no refunds were allowed. This was very counter to the 30-day return policy that I saw on the website. Although he used it, he only used it twice for conditioning and he had not used it in any full practices. I didn't get a proper explanation - just a link to their website. (3) Nobody to speak to. This was the most frustrating. First, there is no phone number or email address listed on their website. I needed to use the California business directory to find their phone number. Once I did this, I called Light Helmets about 10 times over two weeks (during their regular business hours) and left 4 voice messages. I even left a few comments through their "contact us" form on their website. Two weeks later, I finally got a hold of somebody. She said that she would take care of my issue, but she never called back. I called her 2-3 more times and emailed and she eventually responded by email saying that nothing could be done. After a few emails asking if any exceptions could be made, she just stopped emailing back. I still don't feel like I ever got an explanation. I'm sure these helmets are good, but I was very disappointed by the level of customer service from them. Perhaps they're not used to dealing with customers (just other vendors) and as a result, they don't feel that customer service is important. Anyways, I still don'ta feel that this issue has been resolved - as I have a very expensive helmet that's just sitting in a box in our basement. As a result, I'm recommending that the team use a different brand of helmet next year. Just wished that this could have been resolved more easily."
