"I had a two night stay at the beautiful Viroqua Heritage Inn recently. The Inn is a beautiful turn of the century Victorian home that is furnished in the style of the time. Photos of the room I stayed in. Monica was a wonderful and friendly host, sharing ideas of places to explore while I was in town. There was a tasty continental breakfast with plenty of options to choose from. I want to return in the summer so I can experience the out door areas and garden. I highly recommend The Viroqua Heritage Inn."
"The location was excellent for us, coming in town to check on our aging parents for Christmas. This put us less than a mile away from them. We received a call from the attendant from the Boutique Bed and Breakfast two hours before arriving on our sixteen hour drive from an audibly sick individual calling to ensure our arrival time. She said she was going to social distance herself. I thought we would be greeted from a distance at some point. It becomes a little odd after two days of being in someone’s house, you never met and you hear them coughing and stirring around, smell their food cooking. Definitely different. We unfortunately couldn’t make other plans with such short notice at Christmas nor was it taken into consideration. We struggled with this being around sickness and my elderly parents that can’t afford to get sick in their condition. The room was as listed, Victorian and full of nick-knacks and tons of furniture. The bed was very comfortable. The room offered large windows with minimal blinds that had a consistent glow through the windows all night. If you like a dark room, bring an eye mask. The bathroom was very tiny with no room to put personal belongings. The front door is not locked at night so anyone can walk in off the street. Parking is on the road with limited lighting. At night we could occasionally hear a dog upstairs barking and yelping and after showering in the morning we had the opportunity to dry off with one of the towels that the dog dried off with. We contacted the attendant by phone and she said we could go upstairs and get another towel to remedy the situation. Breakfast consisted of muffins from the local store and you get to make the coffee. Fruit was left out and the refrigerator had expired yogurt, water, creamers and cheese sticks. Our last night we came into some one moving in for extended stay with her dog. I have stayed in several Bed and Breakfasts over the years and I don’t ever remember having mixed clientele like this. Maybe this is the off season? We nicely asked/ suggested that we just make our bed to attempt to social distance ourselves as much as possible and she take it easy being she was very sick. Unfortunately I woke up from our last (4th) night with the same cough as the attendee. Everyone gets sick, it would have been nice in this situation to have received a call ASAP to make decisions to prevent this. Cancellation without penalty or other offers were not presented. Update 12/30/2023- currently on steroids, and antibiotics! Very frustrating and this was totally preventable! New Years Eve plans…CANCELLED! She said, “you don’t want what I have”. Well I got it!"
"What a fun trip. The hotel was an absolutely beautiful building in a great location. (we stayed in the severs room). Service was really quite good. Lots of personal touches all around the building and the backyard. This felt like a perfect escape from the city where we are from. We will definitely be back here if we ever visit this part of the state again. the only thing I would say is that the rooms are really quite small overall - not that much small than a normal hotel room - so not a lot of space to sprawl out if that's what you like doing."
"My husband and I were guests at the Heritage Inn B&B in October for a long weekend. Nancy, the proprietor was very welcoming. She gave us a quick tour of the home, showed us where breakfast would be set up in the morning, gave us some background on the room we stayed in (The Charlotte). A long-time Viroqua resident, she was able to recommend places to visit in Viroqua and beyond. The B&B was just down the street from the main thoroughfare, so it was conveniently located. Our accommodations were comfortable, including a very large (and high) bed, and a private bathroom and shower. After we got home we realized we left the specialty cheeses from the farmer’s market, in the B&B fridge. Nancy was generous enough to agree to ship it to us. We were glad to have stayed."
"My wife and I decided to enjoy a little getaway to the Viroqua area, and selected the Eckhart Dyson House for lodging. The house was really charming, spacious and comfortable and in a convenient location. Our hostess was great and helped us out with dining recommendations and suggestions of local attractions. The only downside to our trip there was the fact that we came on a Sunday, and didn't realize many Viroqua shops were closed on Monday. If you're looking for a cozy and elegant place to stay, we highly recommend this place."
