About the Business
The Ruins of the 1861 Los Angeles County Courthouse, located at 1126 North Hazard Avenue in Los Angeles, California, is a historic site with a rich history. The City Terrace Park, where the ruins are located, was planned in 1931 and completed in 1933 by workers from the Works Progress Administration. The park features terraced spaces created from the Arizona red sandstone of the former courthouse, which was demolished in 1936. The park's original plans were featured in the Los Angeles Times, and in 1957, soil from the construction of the L.A. City Civic Center was used to triple the park's acreage. The site welcomes contributions of additional information on any New Deal project and will be presenting an award at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library in 2024. Visit the park's Facebook page or the Los Angeles County Parks website for more information.
