Reviews of Summerbrook Apartments
"As with just about everything in San Diego, or even Southern California for that matter, it's significantly overpriced. Comfortable place to stay but costs half of one's body parts to make ends meet. But since everywhere else is similarly priced, I give three stars to be fair. At least they keep the maintenance up to par."
"I have had the WORST experience, and I’ve only been a tenant for a little over a month. The apartment falls apart little by little everyday, everything is worn down, poorly constructed and extremely not worth the money it costs to live here. The pool is extremely dirty, the jacuzzi is even dirtier, and the gym does NOT come with the apartment like they told us. You have to pay $60 for the key, which doesn’t seem expensive until you see the gym. There’s ONE treadmill and ONE elyptical. That’s it. It’s a small little square with two pieces of equipment, not worth the $60 it costs. The mail box is so worn down that you have to literally hope it opens and closes when checking your mail. They have no included utilities, you pay all of your own utilities. The porch is small and the glass doors are terrible. The windows don’t have proper locks and they fall apart every time you open and close them. I wouldn’t recommend this apartment complex to anyone. There’s new problems every day. It’s not worth the “cheap” priced rent. Last but certainly not least, the management absolutely sucks. On Saturdays they take half the day for lunch when they’re only supposed to be gone for an hour so good luck trying to get ahold of them when something happens over the weekend. I suggest you tour the apartment complex you are thinking about renting. You’ll see for yourself that the apartments are absolutely terrible."
"It's a fairly quiet complex which is nice. The laundry rooms always have machines that are out of order though making it sort of frustrating when you need to wash your clothes. The rent is cheaper if you sign for a long lease. If you're military it's not too far from naval base SD or Coronado but traffic in the morning and afternoon is kinda rough. It's a couple miles to the nearest grocery store and about three miles from the nearest commissary."
"Lived there for almost 3 years. Anytime someone moves out they replace the carpet, clean, and spot paint. The manager did my move out inspection and said everything was good to go. I gave them my home address since I didn't know the new address of my next command (military). They never called me or emailed me. They sent letters to my home on the east coast saying I had to pay them over 300 dollars for cleaning and new carpeting. Then after two months they put it into a collections agency. Half the time I had no where to park. They towed my car once saying it was abandoned. Maintenance forgets about you if they say they're going to have to come back with the proper parts or is t's going to take longer than expected. The entire area is infested with fleas. Had a kid write their name on my roommates car in sharpie. My car was repeatedly door dinged and kids always played around it. The entire place is a disfunctional circus. It was great at first and then it slowly started becoming a pathetic excuse for "relaxed quiet neighborhood setting". Just save yourself the trouble and just don't."
"The staff is very friendly and the complex is maintained very clean. However there is no air conditioning and it made the stay at summerbrook a living hell. I've never lived in a place where there was so many police calls and robers trying to get in. They stole our bike from the balcony. Glad we are out of there!"
